Some scientific studies have shown a direct correlation to vivid (strange or prophetic) dreams to moon cycles, eclipses, asteroid flares, meteor showers and other such meteorological events. The increased levels, and shift in, energetic fields increase the clarity, and strength, of the messages. They are said to be symbolic messages from our subconscious mind, higher self, or the universal source that we believe in. Quantum sciences are making new breakthroughs every day.
While prominent psychologists like Freud, and Jung, looked at dreams in a more widely accepted by the masses way. In fact they reached pop culture status. Freud, and Jung, collaborated together from 1903 to their irrevocable split in 1913.
Freud viewed dreams as repressed desires (especially from childhood) of wish fulfillment. Freud said there was a "manifest content" (dreams surface narrative) and a "latent content" (hidden meaning). Freud specifically looked at wish fulfillment (fulfillment of represed unconscious desires often sexual in nature), manifest versus latent content (2 layers existing - that of what one remembers and the hidden symbolic meaning behind something), free association methodology (patient saying whatever came to mind) for the dream and focus (Freud"s interpretation which was often reductive and focused on the past (often childhood) as the root cause of any neuroses).
Jung saw dreams as a way to compensate for the imbalances in one's consciousness life. Jung believed that the whole personality could be integrated when one drew from both one's own unconsciousness and the collective unconsciousness. He believed the collective unconscious contains universal archetypes and symbols. Jung also believed that dreams were a tool for psychological growth and individuation. Jung's approach differed from Freud's looking into one's past traumas, Jung believed the process as being more future oriented based, believing strongly in how dreams act as a guide and not just a window into past that was repressed. Jung used the amplification method to explore the personal and cultural significance of dream symbols.
Less known (to non academics within the psychology world) within the mainstream pop culture, but equally significant to dream work, were "grandfathers" of dream research. Nathaniel Kleitman and his student Eugene Aserinsky discovered in 1953 the link between REM (rapid eye movement) and dreaming. Robert Van de Castle is also called a "grandfather of dreams" for his work on dream content analysis.
Within the esoteric realm dream work has become mainstream. It is common to have the topic in movies, TV shows, internet videos and other social media, and in blogs, magazine and newspaper articles and books (from history of, to how to, to straight out Dream Dictionaries).
Do you believe the increased strength, and frequencies, stem from meteorological events? Or do you believe it is occuring because more people are doing the psychological shadow work in their healing, reaching deeper levels, thus reaching higher frequencies? Or do you believe the energy surge comes from collective growing in its mass pop culture acceptance around the world? I know what I believe (just ask and I will say) but I am curious to your take.
