📌 Single Mom at 30 PTSD + Social Anxiety + HBP

🍼 I became a mom at 30. Alone.

Not by choice. Literally. I then entered motherhood in survival mode; jobless, homeless, navigating trauma, trying to hold it together without falling apart… Im falling apart

The world doesn’t pause so you can heal.

🧠 PTSD is now my daily reality.

Triggered by noises. Constant hypervigilance. Emotional shutdowns. Disconnect. Nothing about motherhood excites me.

😶 Newfound social anxiety hitting hard. I never really liked the manipulative ways of people but I enjoyed being outside in the park, walking around with my music or working out in the gym.

Now… Crowds, small talk, even playdates gave me panic attacks.

Suddenly, “outside” doesn’t feel safe. And “inside” I no longer feel peaceful.

💊 I was prescribed propranolol just to calm my heart rate and the just in case I have a panic attack which Im severely anxious daily.

My blood pressure spiked post-partum and hasn’t dropped since.

Motherhood has broken my spirit & my body too.

📅 Trying to find a therapist?

Booked out for MONTHS.

This is the mental health crisis no one wants to admit because if healing is “accessible,” why are so many of us left waiting months on end?

I struggling daily showing up for my child ❤️‍🩹

If you’re healing in a world that makes healing nearly impossible I applaud you 🫶

Spiritually, I’m grounded in my faith. But my spirit? Disturbed daily.

It feels like I’m in a constant battle breaking cycles I didn’t even start. Carrying weights that ain’t mine just to make sure my child never has to.

💬 Drop 💕 if you can relate

... Read moreMotherhood, especially as a single mom at 30, can bring profound emotional and physical challenges, including the onset or worsening of PTSD, social anxiety, and high blood pressure (HBP). PTSD may manifest with symptoms such as hypervigilance, heightened sensitivity to noise, emotional shutdowns, and dissociation, making day-to-day activities deeply exhausting and isolating. Social anxiety can intensify this isolation, with common social environments such as parks, gyms, or playdates triggering panic attacks and overwhelming stress. Managing these conditions often requires medical intervention; one common medication is propranolol, which helps control heart rate and ease situational anxiety, particularly panic attacks. Postpartum high blood pressure is another critical health concern that can persist long after childbirth, potentially leading to serious cardiovascular issues. This physical strain, coupled with mental health struggles, can break the spirit and make the demands of parenting feel unbearable. Unfortunately, the mental health support system is frequently overwhelmed, with therapists booked months in advance, leaving many mothers without timely professional care. This treatment gap contributes to the ongoing mental health crisis, especially for vulnerable populations like single mothers. Healing in such an environment requires not only medical treatment but also community and spiritual support. Faith and spiritual grounding can provide strength and resilience, though the burden of breaking generational cycles and carrying emotional weights adds to daily stress. It is important for society to recognize and address these barriers by improving accessibility to mental health resources and offering compassionate support for single mothers coping with PTSD, social anxiety, and hypertension after childbirth. Sharing personal stories and raising awareness using hashtags like #postpartumdepressionawareness and #anxietyinmotherhood helps reduce stigma and fosters connection among those facing similar struggles.
