My May TBR

... Read moreBeyond my personal May TBR, I've been thinking a lot about how we discover our next favorite reads. Sometimes it's through BookTok, other times it's recommendations from friends, but often, I find myself glancing at lists like the New York Times Bestseller List. There's something reassuring about seeing a book consistently top those charts – it often means a fantastic story that's captivated many, a true gem worth diving into! Speaking of popular reads that often make waves, I've heard so much buzz around 'Dial A for Aunties' by Jesse Q. Sutanto. While it wasn't on my immediate May TBR, it’s definitely one that catches my eye when I'm looking for something fresh and widely loved. It’s supposed to be a hilarious romantic comedy with a murder mystery twist – sounds like the perfect escapism! It makes me wonder what other hidden treasures or popular hits I might be missing out on that are flying off the shelves or making their way onto those prestigious bestseller lists. It's fascinating how many different genres can become bestsellers. Just like the ROMANCE I'm currently enjoying, 'Things We Never Got Over' by Lucy Score, or the THRILLER, 'Five Survive' by Holly Jackson, that I'm eager to get into. These are the kinds of books that get everyone talking! And when I think about other books that have captured so many hearts, like 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' by Jenny Han – a classic for many, or the heartfelt 'All the Bright Places' by Jennifer Niven, which is a powerful YOUNG ADULT FICTION, I realize that popular doesn't always mean just one thing. There's also 'The Do-Over' by Lynn Painter, another ROMANCE that seems to be a hit with readers. These are all books that, for various reasons, resonate deeply and often achieve widespread popularity, sometimes even landing on the New York Times Bestseller List. Finding a book that’s both popular and personally engaging is always a win. Whether it’s a gripping THRILLER or a heartwarming ROMANCE, the excitement of starting a new book is unparalleled. I'm always on the lookout for diverse stories that offer something unique. What I love about exploring books that hit the bestseller lists, or get a lot of buzz online, is the chance to join a larger conversation and see what themes and narratives are really connecting with people right now. It's a great way to broaden my reading horizons beyond my usual picks. So, while my May TBR has some exciting personal choices with 'Things We Never Got Over,' 'A Thousand Boy Kisses,' and 'Five Survive,' I'm also keeping an open mind for those universally loved reads. Have you read 'Dial A for Aunties' or any other books that you discovered through a bestseller list? I'd love to hear your thoughts and recommendations! It’s all about sharing the love for books and finding those next unputdownable stories.
