Sketchbook tour: mini edition!✨

If you are an artist in your early-mid twenties did you also obsess over CalArt #sketchbook tours?

When I was taking art more seriously in my junior and senior years in highschool I would watch those videos over and over again. Amazed, how could someone my age make something so skilled? But I couldn’t…

I didn’t keep a sketchbook for years. I had a place for thumbnails and practice before bigger pieces. But never a pure place to just draw freely. I couldn’t stop comparing myself to others.

Recently I got a sketchbook from Five Below and I’ve rediscovered the joy of experimenting.

I hope you those Artists who are intimidated by the blank page, to fill it with whatever makes you happy :)

... Read moreIn the world of art, sketchbooks serve as a vital tool for self-expression and creativity. Many young artists find themselves intimidated by their initial sketches or the perceived expectations from social media. However, it's essential to remember that every artist's journey is unique. A sketchbook can be a personal space to explore different styles, techniques, and subjects without the pressure of finality. By utilizing prompts, challenges, or simply doodling for fun, artists can find a rhythm that allows for artistic growth. Whether you're sketching in public or in the comfort of your home, it's crucial to embrace imperfections and enjoy the process. Don't hesitate to fill your pages with anything that sparks joy, as this can lead to innovative ideas and development of your artistic voice. Many established artists suggest creating daily drawing habits or participating in weekly challenges to stay motivated. Remember, the key is to immerse yourself deeply in the act of creation rather than focus solely on the outcomes. Happy sketching! Explore different mediums, techniques, and styles by visiting art forums and engaging with fellow artists for a community-driven experience. Discover how other artists maintain their sketchbooks, and get inspired by their stories. Their experiences may guide you on your own artistic journey, ensuring you create works that resonate with personal significance.
