Day 2 of Painting

Let’s getterrrr done.

Yes, I am aware I’m dressed like Velma and my bangs don’t help.😂

This is Day 2 of this painting and it’s already giving me trouble. I’m using a different brand of paint and I’m not loving it… BUT we are going to keep going.

It definitely throws a curveball when the consistency or pigment isn't what you're used to. But honestly, it’s moments like these that really highlight the appeal of imperfection in art. For so long, I (and I think many of us) was conditioned to think every stroke had to be flawless, every color blend seamless. But what I'm truly learning is that the beauty often lies in those unplanned variations and unique textures that emerge when things don't go 'perfectly' according to plan. Embracing imperfection has been a total game-changer for my creative mindset. Instead of getting frustrated when a color mixes unexpectedly or a brushstroke goes a little wild, I now try to see it as an opportunity. It adds character to the piece, makes it truly one-of-a-kind, and removes so much pressure. It’s like the artwork breathes a little easier, and so do I! This journey isn't just about the final masterpiece; it's about the process, the learning, and the unexpected twists. It makes the art feel more authentic, more human. And through all these little challenges, I've discovered a wonderful way of finding pockets of tranquility right in the middle of creating. Even when I’m struggling with a tricky section or a new medium, the act of putting brush to canvas, mixing colors, and simply focusing on the movement can be incredibly meditative. It’s a space where I can switch off from the daily grind and just 'be' with my art, no matter how it’s turning out. It might not be picture-perfect, but the mental peace it brings is invaluable. It’s a reminder that art isn't always about grand statements or gallery-worthy pieces; sometimes, it’s just about the simple joy of creation and the calm it brings to your soul. To anyone else out there, whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out and thinking 'Let's get to painting,' remember: don't let the fear of not being 'good enough' stop you. Try new things, even if they challenge you, like my current paint brand dilemma. Allow for those 'happy accidents.' Take breaks when you feel stuck, step back, and look at your work with fresh eyes. Sometimes, what seems like a mistake in the moment can become the most interesting part of your piece. It's about letting go of rigid expectations and allowing the creative flow to guide you. Every brushstroke, every color choice, even every 'oops' moment, contributes to the unique story of your artwork and, more importantly, your personal creative growth. So, let’s keep painting and find that inner calm, imperfect stroke by imperfect stroke!
