A love letter to myself

Dearest Me,

Today is a good mood day, and I hope you can look back on this letter for days that leave you feeling less than spectacular.

Life hasn’t always been easy. You’ve endured SO much more than any one person should. There have been many a day you’ve wanted to give up. Yet here you are, living life anyway.

Please remember, don’t you ever forget, that you are always worth the love you give yourself.

Love isn’t always easy, nor glamorous. Indeed, sometimes it can be rather dull. Love can look like brushing your teeth in the mornings, or stepping into the shower on days you want to do nothing more than rot in bed.

But love is always so powerful, and you deserve to feel it for yourself. I’m very proud of you for how much you’ve grown in your capacity to love yourself even when it’s not easy.

Thank you for showing up to your life. I want to believe that you make a difference in the lives you reach, but even if the only life you make a difference in is your own, it will still have been worth it.

Life isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it.

Sincerely,

Me.

... Read moreWriting a love letter to yourself can be a deeply healing and affirming experience. In my own journey, I’ve found that acknowledging both my strengths and vulnerabilities helps build a stronger foundation of self-love. The letter’s reminder that love can be as simple as brushing your teeth or taking a shower resonated with me—those small acts of care on difficult days are powerful symbols of perseverance. It’s important to remember that self-love doesn’t always look glamorous; sometimes it means being patient with yourself when you make mistakes or feeling courageous even when fear is present. The phrases from the imagery, like "to the girl who is patient & kind" and "who is resilient, intelligent, and strong," reflect the qualities many of us struggle to recognize in ourselves. By embracing these truths, I learned to pivot rather than give up, fostering growth and resilience. This letter also reminded me that even if the only life affected by your self-love is your own, it still matters immensely. Showing up for yourself—especially on tough days—is a powerful act of bravery. If you’re considering writing your own love letter, try to focus on specific qualities that make you unique and worthy, even on days that feel less than perfect. It’s in these moments of honest self-compassion that true healing begins. Overall, self-love is a continual practice. It’s okay for it to feel dull or challenging at times because those moments are part of the journey toward truly believing in your own worth. Keep reminding yourself: you are always deserving of love, especially from yourself.
