The phrase "get fit or die trying" might sound extreme, but for many of us, it perfectly captures the unwavering commitment we feel towards our health and fitness goals. It's not about literal life or death, but about a deep-seated dedication to transform our bodies and minds, pushing past excuses to achieve a stronger, healthier self. This year, that sentiment truly resonates with me, and I’m channeling that intensity into a holistic plan. My journey to "get fit or die trying" isn't just about hitting the gym; it's about integrating wellness into every aspect of my life. For me, that means consistently showing up, even on days when motivation is low. It's about finding joy in movement, whether that's through powerful sessions of seated cable rows to build a strong back, or focusing on specific muscle groups like glutes & hamstrings with targeted exercises. I've learned that tracking progress, even with simple mirror selfies, can be incredibly motivating. Seeing those small changes keeps the fire burning and reminds me how far I've come. That's why I'm committed to finding new ways to stay active and trying out new fitness classes – keeping things fresh prevents boredom and challenges my body in new ways. But fitness isn't just about what happens in the gym. It's about fueling my body right. That's where consistent meal prep comes in. Thinking ahead and having healthy options like those colorful meal prep containers stocked with salmon, rice, and green veggies makes it so much easier to stay on track. It removes the guesswork and temptation when hunger strikes. And let's not forget the power of supplements; being consistent with my creatine and probiotics is a small but mighty step in supporting my overall health and recovery. Beyond the physical, mental and emotional wellness are crucial. That's why I'm prioritizing getting out in nature more – a simple walk on a dirt path can clear my head and recharge my spirit. Decreasing screen time and reading more helps me disconnect from digital noise and connect with new ideas. And for my relationship, scheduling weekly or bi-weekly date nights with my husband ensures we nurture our connection amidst busy schedules. It’s all part of building a strong foundation, not just for my body, but for my entire life. This "get fit or die trying" mindset is about making a pact with myself: to strive for continuous improvement, to stay consistent, and to embrace the journey with all its challenges and triumphs. It's about living a life where strength, health, and well-being are non-negotiable. What does your version of "getting fit or dying trying" look like this year?
