Point dume 🌸🌸
My favorite beach to relax, it’s questionable about the waves most of the time- so it’s best to hike a couple miles next door to zuma beach to swim safely, but at this spot you can catch waves and wade the water. I really have fun here! Especially the hike! Also, this free people romper is perfect for hiking, swimming - all the things! It’s my fave go to!
☀️ Summer vibes: point dume
💛 Final thoughts: beautiful but not the most swimmable
🌊 Beach day: 8/5/26
🌴 Vacation look: free people romper - also sold at Nordstrom

If you're planning a visit to Point Dume, it's a wonderful spot that offers more than just a typical beach experience. One thing I've found helpful is to treat Point Dume as a starting point for a mini adventure — the beach itself has breathtaking views and tranquil areas for wading, but if you're into swimming or want safer, larger waves, the short hike over to Zuma Beach is well worth it. The trail is around two miles and offers beautiful coastal scenery that adds an enjoyable workout to your day. When I visit, I usually wear something versatile like a Free People romper; it’s comfortable for hiking and looks great for beach photos, plus you can easily swim or wade in it. I purchased mine from Nordstrom, and it’s become my go-to for beach outings because it combines style and functionality perfectly. Another tip is to go during weekdays or early mornings to avoid crowds, as Point Dume can get busy on sunny days. Also, don't forget to bring good footwear for the hike to Zuma — the path can be rocky in places. Beyond swimming, this area is great for sunset watching, and many locals recommend waiting until the evening for mesmerizing views. Overall, while Point Dume itself isn't the best spot for intensive swimming, its charm lies in its peaceful atmosphere, scenic hiking opportunities, and accessibility to Zuma Beach. I highly recommend extending your beach day by exploring both! Whether you're looking to relax, take stunning photos, or seek a bit of exercise, this coastal area has something for everyone.
