UPRISING Book Review!📖📚ðŸ˜
Uprising by Margaret Peterson Haddix…
Is a book about the struggle of coming to America in the early 20th century and the challenges the young women who came here faced in working for the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory.
It takes on as the perspective of three different young ladies. Bella, an Italian immigrant straight off Ellis Island who came to America in hopes of saving her impoverished family.
Yetta, a Yiddish immigrant from Russia who has been in America with her older sister Rahel for two months. Yetta is restless in need of a revolution.
And Jane, New York born and raised society girl, riding the coat-tails of her father’s money.
Three young girls, three different worlds. All seemingly worlds that would never come together. But as fate would have it, these young girls would form a bond, and movement like no other. They would become a part of history with the factory strikes, as well as the fire.
I personally give this book a 4.98/5. It was gripping from start to finish. I teared up several times through this book, and finished it in less than 48 hours. SOOO GOOD! The author’s note at the very end is very well worth reading. It gave me clarity and peace to such a tragic book.
I hope you can all read this with care! It is a MUST READ, especially to your younger readers in the family!
