... Read moreStudying for the AAPC CPC exam can be challenging, especially when a particular chapter feels tougher than the rest. From my experience, mastering concepts like the 3 Types of Closures, such as sutures, is essential, as they often appear in coding scenarios related to surgical procedures. When I tackled Chapter 7, which covers these closure types, it took me longer than expected because the practice tests revealed gaps in my understanding that I hadn’t noticed during initial study sessions. To overcome this, I found it helpful to break down the material into smaller chunks and focus intensely on one concept at a time. For example, understanding the differences between simple, intermediate, and complex closures made it easier to select the correct codes during practice. Additionally, supplementing textbook study with visual aids and coding forums helped solidify my knowledge. Taking practice tests and reviewing each incorrect answer thoroughly is key. It’s tempting to move quickly when you think you grasp the content, but these tests reveal misunderstandings that could cost you points on the actual exam. Giving yourself permission to revisit tough sections multiple times is crucial—progress might be slow, but it’s effective. Incorporate regular breaks and vary your study methods to keep motivation high. For instance, switching between reading, quizzing yourself, and watching related videos can maintain engagement during long study sessions. Lastly, participating in study groups or coding communities can provide emotional support and diverse perspectives that improve retention and application of complex topics like coding for closures. Remember, feeling challenged by a chapter doesn’t mean failure—it often means you’re learning deeply. Keep consistent, and use your practice tests as guides to focus your efforts. You’ll be surprised at how your confidence grows as you master content that once felt overwhelming.

I start my class in August. How do you ladies feel about it now that you started the class? Is it overwhelming any study tips or tricks were you already in Healthcare so it’s familiar with you or do you feel like somebody who’s new to this information would really struggle to comprehend it.
