It first out of 10 my rules

One of the most important lessons I've learned is that "repair has to come before pride." This means that when a hurtful comment is made, instead of defending why it was right, we pause to reconnect and clarify our feelings. Phrases like "Can I say that again?" help us resolve conflicts quickly and avoid unnecessary escalation. Another crucial practice is our weekly Sunday check-in. We spend about 15 minutes, phone-free, honestly sharing how the week went. I find that grounding myself with a simple body scan or mindfulness exercise before this helps me communicate more openly, especially if I've been carrying stress. Protecting ordinary affection in daily life is also key. Small gestures such as a kiss before leaving, a reassuring touch, or sending a silly picture keep the emotional connection strong. These moments ensure that love isn’t reserved for special occasions only but nurtured every day. Lastly, we make a conscious effort not to punish each other with silence or the word "fine" when upset. Speaking the truth about our feelings and needs, even if that means asking for space, prevents resentment from building. It takes courage but ultimately fosters genuine understanding and intimacy. In my experience, these simple but intentional rules have transformed how we love and support each other. They create a foundation where both partners feel safe, heard, and cherished—essential for any lasting relationship.
