Riverdale JROTC Military Ball 2024
My Big Kids went to their JROTC Military Ball this weekend and had the best time! Here are just a few pics we got! I'm so proud of Christopher and Lindsay! They are soaking up high-school and all it has to offer! #girlmom #boymom #momofboth #momofteens #highschoolers #jrotc
Watching my kids get ready for their JROTC Military Ball was such a proud moment! For those wondering about this special event, it's so much more than just a dance. Often held annually, it's a time-honored tradition where JROTC cadets celebrate their achievements, leadership, and camaraderie. It's a formal affair, a chance for these incredible high schoolers to connect outside of their regular training. It's truly a highlight of their high school experience. One of the most common questions I hear, and one I had myself, was 'What do you wear to a JROTC Military Ball?' It can seem daunting, but it's really about respecting tradition while looking your best. For the JROTC cadets, it's all about their dress uniform. Seeing them in their sharp uniforms, complete with all their awards and ribbons, truly makes you swell with pride. My son looked so distinguished in his uniform! And for their dates or other high school guests, it's typically formal attire, similar to a prom or a very fancy banquet. If you're a female guest, think elegant evening wear. Long formal dresses are usually the go-to for a JROTC military ball. We saw so many beautiful high school military ball dresses – from classic black to vibrant jewel tones. Consider comfortable shoes, as there's often dancing! Remember, while you want to look fabulous, modesty is key for this type of event. Sleeveless or strapless gowns are fine, but deep necklines or very high slits might be best avoided for a more traditional setting. And don't forget accessories like a clutch and subtle jewelry to complete your look. Some girls opted for a beautiful dark blue or maroon dress, which looked stunning. For male cadets, it's their Class A or dress uniform, often adorned with a boutonniere matching their date's dress. They look incredibly sharp! For civilian male guests, a dark suit and tie is the standard. A tuxedo is also appropriate, but a nice suit will definitely fit the military ball dress code. Making sure the suit is well-fitted and clean is important. Seeing the boys, like the cadets Lewis and Campbell mentioned in the photos, standing so proudly in their uniforms or smart suits really highlights the professionalism of the event. Beyond the outfits, understanding basic military ball etiquette can make the experience even smoother. There's often a receiving line where you greet the honored guests and leadership – a simple handshake and polite greeting is perfect. The Grand March is another highlight, where couples are formally introduced. Pay attention to toasts and don't forget to mingle and enjoy the dancing. It's a fantastic opportunity to socialize and make lasting memories with your high school classmates and fellow cadets. We took so many photos to remember the night, especially in front of the lovely balloon arch setup! It’s truly a milestone event for these high schoolers. If your teen is attending or you're preparing to go yourself, embrace the formality, have fun, and know you're part of a special tradition. It's an evening they'll talk about for years!
