WFH isn’t for the lazy

I have worked both from home and in an office. Working in an office meant management could easily just look in and see you at your computer. You had to plan your day to make sure you left with time to spare in case of delays.

WFH seems on the surface the easier route. You can do your household chores, maybe a little extra self care, don’t have to worry about a commute. But then, there’s the blending of home life and work life. There’s plenty of distractions. And, there’s missing out on water cooler chat.

But WFH allows those with disabilities to create a space that actually supports their minds and bodies. I personally work better as I don’t get distracted by the person next to me interrupting my work every 5 minutes with a question because they’re apparently incapable of actually looking things up on their own.

WFH or in office, there will be individuals who actually work or make it just look like they’re working. There are pros and cons to both. If it’s a job that can be done from home, I feel like employees should have the option. Why does it matter if the job is getting done?

... Read moreWorking from home (WFH) has become increasingly common, yet it demands a unique set of skills and discipline that contrasts with traditional office environments. One of the key advantages of WFH is the flexibility it offers, especially for individuals with disabilities or those who need a tailored workspace to maximize their productivity. This allows for a personalized work environment that caters to individual needs, ultimately fostering a better mental state. However, the ease of working from home can also blur the lines between personal life and work commitments, creating a potential for distractions that can hinder productivity. It's crucial for remote workers to set clear boundaries, establish dedicated workspaces, and cultivate routines similar to those they might have in an office setting. Regular breaks, prioritizing tasks, and minimizing interruptions can significantly enhance focus. In addition, fostering virtual connections with colleagues or engaging in casual check-ins can help mitigate feelings of isolation and maintain the social aspect of office culture. These practices not only promote a healthy work-life balance but also improve job satisfaction. Understanding the importance of discipline within the WFH framework is vital; it ensures that employees remain engaged and productive, proving that remote work is not a lazy choice but rather a strategic one for those who master it.

It definitely is harder if you’re a social person. I prefer hybrid because there are days the socialization of the office helps, and days where I really just need to be alone to focus and feel motivated.

I tried and they said flexible and it’s easy and blah blah but it was easy for the most part but they had meeting that I don’t get paid for (commission based) like late at night bc of ppl living in different places which is fine IF THE MEETING IS AFTT 6pm some were even at 9-10 pm like bro what - they wanted me to get my closest family and friends to get a policy even tho I knew most of them won’t or already have one. And from my understanding the job is literally recruiting people to do the same ( also get them to do a policy with me) which is prob not hard but where am I gonna find these ppl? If I don’t get anyone I don’t get money plus had to pay a monthly fee. 😐
