👎🏻 books i did not enjoy

When I picked up these books, especially ’Tell Me What You Did’ by Carter Wilson, my anticipation was high due to the gripping summaries and psychological thriller tags. However, as I progressed, I found the pacing slow and the characters often frustrating—particularly the protagonist in Wilson’s book, whose illogical and sometimes crude decisions felt out of place. This made it hard to stay engaged. Similarly, ’The Wife Between Us’ by Greer Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen felt spoiled for me ahead of time because of the synopsis that hinted at surprises. Knowing not to expect typical twists diminished my suspense, and the plot’s development became predictable, which dulled my overall enjoyment. ’Rules for Perfect Murders’ by Peter Swanson intrigued me with its premise, but the story dragged on longer than expected, challenging my patience. Despite Swanson being a bestselling author, the book didn’t capture my attention fully. Finally, ’Lock Every Door’ by Riley Sager had the suspense many fans love, but the reveal was underwhelming, and the slow sections made me question returning to his other works. In fact, after reading it, I found myself slipping back into doomscrolling rather than picking another book by him. If you’ve read any of these, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
