Meet my puppy Chloe🫶🏽

It’s been just a short while since my adorable little Chloe joined our family, and what an adventure it’s been! At 3 months old, my Yorkshire Terrier puppy is a tiny bundle of joy and boundless energy. If you're also bringing home a 3-month-old Yorkie, or just curious about what life is like with one, let me share some of my personal experiences and tips. One thing you quickly learn about these little guys is their incredible energy! Chloe, with her beautiful black and tan fur, is constantly exploring, playing, and keeping me on my toes. We’ve found that short, frequent play sessions throughout the day are perfect for burning off some of that puppy steam without overdoing it. A variety of small, safe toys keeps her entertained and helps with her teething too. I always make sure to have a few puzzle toys on hand to challenge her little brain. Potty training has been a major focus. For a 3-month-old puppy, consistency is absolutely crucial. I take Chloe out every hour or two, especially right after she wakes up, eats, or has a play session. Celebrating every successful potty break with lots of praise and a tiny treat has made a huge difference. We’ve also embraced crate training, and it’s been invaluable. My pup sleeps soundly in her cozy crate every night, which not only aids in potty training by preventing accidents but also gives her a secure space she can call her own. Seeing her curled up, sleeping soundly inside, makes me happy knowing she feels safe. Feeding a tiny Yorkie requires attention. At 3 months, Chloe eats small meals about three to four times a day. It’s vital to choose a high-quality puppy food specifically formulated for small breeds to ensure they get all the nutrients they need. Because they are so tiny, they can be prone to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) if they go too long without food, so I always keep a close eye on her energy levels and make sure she’s eating regularly. Always have fresh water available, too! Grooming is another aspect I’m learning about. That gorgeous black and tan fur, which makes her look so elegant, needs daily brushing to keep it from matting and looking its best. It’s also a great bonding experience. I’ve started brushing her gently every day, getting her used to the sensation. And yes, she totally rocks her cute pink rhinestone collar! Finding the right collar and harness that are comfortable and secure for such a small neck is important for safety during walks. Finally, socialization is key at this age. I’m making an effort to gently introduce Chloe to different sounds, sights, and friendly, vaccinated dogs. Positive early experiences help shape a confident, well-adjusted adult dog. It’s a busy time, but watching her learn and grow is incredibly rewarding. Every day brings a new funny moment or a sweet cuddle. What are your tips for raising a 3-month-old Yorkie puppy?
