Overweight? Unhappy unrecognizable, needed a chang

Growing up, I was always on the heavier side. I was diagnosed with PCOS, and nothing seemed to work— diets, workouts, even my job that kept me on my feet all day.

After my last pregnancy, I hit my heaviest weight: 210 lbs.

And I knew— needed a change.

I saw doctors, I went to specialists. They all said the same thing-there's a medication helping people lose weight.

But it was originally made for diabetes. The catch?

My insurance wouldn't cover it.

I was devastated... until I started researching on my own. I found out that the same medication-compounded-was being offered through telehealth clinics and medspas.

But the price? Still overwhelming.

$1000-1500/month if you go through a pharmacy.

$500-700/month through compounding clinics.

I felt like help existed... but it was locked behind a paywall.

"I kept digging-hours of scrolling, reading forums, late-night PubMed rabbit holes-and that's when I found them: peptides. Tiny chains of amino acids being talked about all over the for fat-loss, metabolic support, even PCOS.

• GLP-1 & Tirzepatide-style compounds - the same class my doctor mentioned, only now available in compounded form, sometimes under half the retail price.

• Amylin analogs (think cagrilintide/retatrutide) - peptides that slow gastric emptying and tame cravings.

• MOTS-c, 5-Amino-1MQ, AOD-9604 - names that sound like sci-fi, each targeting metabolism from a slightly different angle.

Peptides felt like the underground side of medicine-legal, physician-guided, but way outside the insurance system.

Prices still aren't pocket change (most run $250-$600/ month, yet compared to the $1,200 price tag l'd been quoted, they felt... possible.

And suddenly the question flipped from "Why can't I lose weight?" to "Which peptide protocol makes the most sense for me?"

**"And now... l've officially started Retatrutide. After everything-PCOS, failed diets, being ignored by doctors, hitting 210 lbs post-pregnancy—| finally found something that feels like a real shift.

Retatrutide isn't just a weight-loss med. It's one of the most powerful next-gen peptides out there.

It works on multiple hormone pathways (GLP-1, GIP and glucagon) to: reduce appetite boost metabolism ~ improve insulin resistance (hello PCOS!) and help your body actually let go of fat.

It's early... but I already feel the difference. This time, it's not just about weight.

It's about reclaiming control.

It's about science meeting self-worth.

It's about ME."**

This week, I didn't binge at night. I said no to things I used to feel controlled by. That's progress-even if no one sees it yet."

... Read moreLiving with PCOS has often felt like an uphill battle, especially when it comes to managing weight. Traditional diets and exercise routines didn’t seem to produce lasting results for me, largely because PCOS affects hormones that regulate metabolism and insulin sensitivity. After hitting my heaviest weight post-pregnancy, I knew I needed a new approach. Discovering peptides like Retatrutide was groundbreaking for me. This medication works by influencing GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors, helping to control appetite and enhance the body’s ability to burn fat while improving insulin resistance—key issues for anyone dealing with PCOS. What amazed me most was how these peptides offer a multi-faceted approach rather than the single-target methods I’d tried before. Many people might hesitate because of the costs, especially with insurance coverage often unavailable for these treatments. However, compounded peptides accessed through telehealth clinics and medspas provide a more affordable option. Although still an investment, these prices are more manageable compared to the $1,000–$1,500 monthly price tags of brand-name medications. From personal experience, the emotional benefits have been just as significant as the physical ones. On Retatrutide, I’ve found greater control over late-night cravings and binge eating—a huge shift for me. This sense of empowerment has pushed me forward even on days when the scale doesn’t budge much. For anyone with PCOS or metabolic challenges considering peptide therapies, I recommend thorough research and consulting with knowledgeable clinicians to find a protocol tailored to your needs. Peptides like amylin analogs, MOTS-c, and AOD-9604 offer different metabolic benefits and may complement your lifestyle and health goals. This journey has been as much about reclaiming my self-worth as it is about weight loss. I’m learning that sustainable health improvements come from science-informed, patient-guided strategies. If you’re feeling stuck or overwhelmed, know that new options are emerging beyond traditional diets and meds. Peptides have given me a renewed sense of hope, and I’m excited to see where this path leads.

Being overweight is def a different thing
Being overweight stings way more than being underweight, like who’s even arguing this? Both can be unhealthy, but only the overweights get judgment. Underweight ppl rarely face the same scrutiny. The bias is clear, so why’s this even a debate? Thoughts? #Letschat #Asklemon8 #stirthepot
