What I ate this week 6 Weeks Postpartum

Six weeks postpartum and I am still 40 pounds over prepregnancy weight but unfortunately I am not someone that drops weight quickly.

I’m trying to eat as healthy as possible with focusing on protein and healthy fats and carbs, as well as having treats here and there. If it looks like I’m eating a lot I am eating a lot because of breast-feeding! Now that I’m cleared to start working out I’m excited to do that as well and hopefully, even if I can’t lose weight, I will be able to start getting more toned and build some muscle mass that I lost while pregnant.

... Read moreIn the weeks following childbirth, it’s essential to focus on nutrition that supports recovery and breastfeeding. Incorporating protein and healthy fats can aid in muscle recovery, especially important during postpartum workouts. For example, protein-rich options like scrambled eggs with bacon or meal-prepped dishes such as chicken Caesar and pot roast are great for sustaining energy levels. Treats, like pizza enjoyed with family, are also a part of a balanced approach to eating. Don't hesitate to indulge occasionally; it’s all about balance. Drinks such as herbal tea and iced coffee can provide comforting energy boosts throughout the day. Many new moms find profit in stocking up on healthy snacks like pre-made energy balls or bulk purchases from stores like Costco, which help ease the postpartum routine. Engaging in a community, whether online or in person, can provide support and motivation for achieving health goals during this transformative time. Customize your meals to suit your tastes, track your energy levels, and enjoy the process of nourishing your body while caring for your newborn.

You look awesome for 6 weeks post! It takes an average of 9 months for your body to fully recover from pregnancy and birth. For my last pregnancy, as of yesterday I’m 24 years postpartum and I’m still not looking as good as you are 😆❤️.

Nesting mode: Organizing my diaper/postpartum cart
With only a couple of weeks left, I’m going to be prepared this time! My midwives asked me to take it really easy and rest in the first week, to jumpstart healing, especially with a toddler. Since I’ll be spending some time in bed/in our room, especially the first week, it’s great to have this cart

What No One Tells You About Postpartum
The first week postpartum is a whirlwind of recovery, emotions, and brand-new experiences that many moms aren’t prepared for. From heavy bleeding and night sweats to the reality that your belly doesn’t shrink overnight, there’s so much about those early days after birth that often gets overlooked.
