Embarking on a journey of self-discovery and personal style is what the recent 11 months have been about for me. As a solo female traveler, I documented my experiences around the globe while nurturing my locs. Each destination brought new challenges and lessons, from realizing the cultural significance of locs in different countries to how each environment impacted their growth and style. Starting in France, my journey took unexpected turns, including a hilarious encounter that helped me embrace my locs more. In Denmark, the humidity gave my locs a unique curl, a reminder of the connection between environment and hair texture. It was in Italy where I made the pivotal decision to keep my locs, convincing myself that this was indeed the look I wanted. My adventure in Japan showcased my vibrant locs in a different culture, highlighting the beauty of diversity. When I reached South Korea, my confidence soared as I learned to style my locs more creatively. Every retwist became a self-care ritual, majorly impacting how I viewed beauty standards abroad. The rollercoaster journey culminated with my return to California, where I felt a sense of achievement in my look. Through this 11-month adventure, I've realized that every twist and turn is part of the journey—not just in travel, but in self-acceptance and personal expression too. The growth of my locs mirrored my own, making it a truly transformational year. Each snapshot from different locations serves as a reminder of my dedication to beauty, culture, and personal evolution.
