... Read moreStepping onto the Miss Choucoune stage for the first time was an absolute whirlwind of emotions! I still can't believe I actually did it, competing in my very first pageant back in April. The journey leading up to that moment was truly a mix of hard work, exhilarating fun, and an incredible learning curve that pushed me far beyond my comfort zone.
From the moment rehearsals began, it was clear this wasn't just about looking glamorous. It was about dedication. Long hours were spent perfecting choreography, practicing my walk in those towering heels, and fine-tuning my stage presence. There were moments of self-doubt, moments of exhaustion, but each challenge only fueled my determination. I distinctly remember the backstage buzz, the nervous energy, and the shared excitement among all the contestants. We were a diverse group of women, each bringing unique personalities and career backgrounds to the competition, and learning from each other was an unexpected highlight.
The camaraderie backstage was truly special. Amidst the flurry of hairspray, makeup, and costume changes, we found ourselves helping each other, sharing laughs, and offering words of encouragement. I recall seeing one of the contestants proudly displaying a Haitian flag emblem and the word "HAITI" on her neck, a beautiful reminder of the rich cultural heritage many of us share. We cheered each other on, whether it was striking a pose in our vibrant, colorful two-piece outfits – some in orange ruffled crop tops and tiered maxi skirts, others in yellow and lime green – or practicing our introductions. These unguarded, fun moments truly made the intense preparation worthwhile.
Then came the moments under the bright lights. Walking confidently on stage in my sparkling, strapless yellow gown and matching choker felt surreal. Every step, every smile, was a culmination of weeks of effort. Posing elegantly on the red carpet alongside other women in their diverse, elegant evening gowns, with the "Choucoune" banner proudly displayed behind us, was an unforgettable experience. It wasn't just about the competition; it was about embracing the spotlight and celebrating individuality. The pageant taught me invaluable lessons in confidence, public speaking, and resilience. I learned to carry myself with grace, to articulate my thoughts clearly during interviews, and to believe in my capabilities, even when faced with immense pressure.
Looking back at the entire Miss Choucoune experience, especially seeing images like myself next to a large poster featuring the 'MISS CHOUCOUNE' title, it fills me with immense pride. It was more than just a competition; it was a transformative journey that allowed me to grow, meet inspiring individuals, and create memories that I will cherish forever. This first pageant was a profound experience, proving that stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to the most rewarding adventures.
