Destination: California

I visited California for the first time last week! We flew into San Francisco and spent a day in the city. We stayed at The Hilton in the Financial District..definitely recommend as well. The pictures speak for themselves, but it’s such a cool city with lots of great stuff to see!

San Francisco

... Read moreMy first trip to San Francisco was an absolute dream, and I can't stop thinking about all the incredible streets I explored! Beyond the iconic Golden Gate Bridge (which, by the way, offers breathtaking views from various spots around the city, like the Presidio), the city's unique charm truly shines when you wander its famous avenues. Let's talk about Lombard Street, often called the "most crooked street in the world." Walking down this incredibly steep, winding path was such an experience! It's not just a road; it's a garden masterpiece with beautiful hydrangeas. My advice? Park at the top or bottom and walk. Driving it is fun, but walking gives you time to appreciate the unique architecture and city views. Don't forget your camera – the photo opportunities are endless! It's definitely a bucket-list moment. Then there's the vibrant pulse of San Francisco's Chinatown, one of the oldest and most established Chinatowns outside of Asia. Stepping under its iconic dragon gates felt like entering a different world. The streets here are alive with red lanterns, bustling markets, and the aroma of delicious food. I loved exploring the small shops, finding unique souvenirs, and just soaking in the atmosphere. Seriously, you have to try some dim sum while you're there – it's a culinary adventure in itself! And who can forget the famously HISTORICALLY STEEP STREETS! Walking up some of these hills was a workout, but the reward was always a panoramic view of the cityscape, sometimes even catching a glimpse of Alcatraz in the distance. It really gives you a sense of the city's dramatic topography. Of course, no visit to the city's famous waterfront would be complete without a stop at Fisherman's Wharf. It’s more than just a sign; it’s a lively hub with street performers, fresh seafood, and those adorable sea lions barking at Pier 39. I spent a good amount of time just watching them – they’re so entertaining! And right nearby is Ghirardelli Square – DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR CHOCOLATE!! Seriously, grab a sundae or some chocolates to take home. It’s the perfect sweet ending to a day of exploring. These streets aren't just pathways; they're destinations in themselves, each telling a piece of San Francisco's story. Whether you're seeking architectural marvels, cultural immersion, or delicious treats, the famous streets of San Francisco truly deliver an unforgettable travel experience. So, next time you're planning a trip, make sure to add these incredible spots to your itinerary!
