How I learned to LOVE my 9-5
Growing up I did not enjoy the Idea of work and I’m sure I’m not the only one that felt that way.
Too many hours in the day for it to be mostly spent at work, at job I don’t like, surrounded by people I either don’t know or don’t like either…just to wake up and do it all over again the next day. 🙄
Over time I realize this feeling of work was not a feeling I wanted to carry with me my whole life or to each new job. So I decided to relearn how I felt about work.
📝Description/Tips 1: I changed my perspective. I realized that working 8 hours a day for 5 days =40 hours a week. That’s not even 2 days of work in a week! Reminding myself that I’m not even working for a full 2 days helped me be able to get through 8 hours.
📝Description/Tips 2: I became more grateful. Work has given me clothes on my back, internet in my house, gas in my car, food on my table, presents for Christmas. I wouldn’t be able to have most of these things if I was not working.
📝Description/Tips 3: I also remember these Bible Verses 🤲🙏:
🤍 Colossians 3:23-24: Work heartily, as if you are working for the Lord.
🤍Proverbs 10:4: A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
The journey to embracing a 9-5 job involves a shift in mindset. Many individuals start their careers feeling discontented, often overwhelmed by the monotony of daily tasks. However, recognizing the importance of work in providing for our needs can foster a more positive outlook. It’s valuable to embrace gratitude, focusing on the benefits of employment such as consistent paychecks, health insurance, and personal growth opportunities. Additionally, reflecting on empowering biblical verses can serve as a motivational reminder of our purpose in the workplace. For instance, Colossians 3:23-24 encourages individuals to work wholeheartedly, which can significantly enhance one’s job satisfaction. By applying a gratitude-focused mindset and leveraging motivational reminders, it's possible to find joy and fulfillment in what was once seen as merely a financial necessity. Moreover, engaging in self-reflection and adopting an attitude of optimism can inspire a deeper appreciation of the work we do. Joining communities or networks that share similar experiences can also provide support and encouragement. Such connections often lead to new insights and helpful practices that further enrich one’s professional life. Transforming the perception of a 9-5 job can ultimately facilitate a more rewarding and balanced life.
