Meet Owen!! 🐱❤️

When Owen, my beloved orange tabby cat, first came into our lives, we quickly learned about his unique challenge: hunger aggression. We also make sure to keep his food out of sight until it's time to eat, which helps manage his anticipation and prevents him from fixating on where his next meal is coming from. Caring for a 28-pound cat like Owen also comes with its own specific considerations beyond just feeding. While he’s 28 pounds of pure love, maintaining a healthy weight is incredibly crucial, especially with his aggressive eating habits. Overweight cats are prone to various health issues like diabetes, arthritis, and heart problems. We work very closely with our vet to ensure his diet is not only balanced but also strictly portion-controlled. Even though he's 8 years old, we make sure to engage him with interactive toys like wand teasers and laser pointers, encouraging him to move, stalk, and burn off energy. We want him to be healthy and active for many more years, and these consistent efforts make a huge difference. Despite these unique challenges, owning Owen has been an incredibly rewarding experience. He truly loves being around the family and is the sweetest cat you could ever hope to meet. His loud purrs and constant desire to cuddle remind me every day that every pet, regardless of their past or specific needs, deserves a loving, understanding home.
