It’s okay to let the friendship go ✨
This is a reminder to you that it’s okay to let the friendship go if it is no longer serving you or costing you your peace, especially if the other person is lacking any emotion towards the situation and/or themselves.
I left a 2 year friendship in 2024 with one of the girls in our trio and I have no regrets. Life happens and our time was up due to her own personal things and attitudes affecting the group and simply not caring what bridges she burned. Now, I’ve decided to get our matching tattoo covered up, despite loving it as a spooky lover, that era with that person is closed so I’m working with my tattoo artist to find something meaningful to cover over it and I’m so excited to see what we come up with! 🩷

It's funny, when you go through a friendship breakup, suddenly every old photo feels like a punch to the gut. I remember scrolling through my phone, seeing pictures of us, even those silly ones with our matching ghost tattoos holding knives, and just feeling a mix of sadness and anger. It’s hard to reconcile the good memories with the pain of the present, and for a while, I couldn't bring myself to delete them. They were like ghosts of a past I was trying to leave behind, but they kept haunting my camera roll. Choosing to cover up that specific matching tattoo wasn't just about ink; it was a deeply symbolic act for me. Every time I looked at those little ghost tattoos holding knives, they reminded me of a bond that had soured, a friendship that had, in a way, stabbed me in the back with its lack of care. It wasn't about erasing history, but about reclaiming my skin and my story. It was a tangible step towards accepting that 'IT'S OKAY to let the friendship go!' Finding an artist who understood this wasn't easy, but my new tattoo artist has been incredible. We've talked about designs that represent growth and new beginnings, something totally unique to my journey now. It feels like a physical manifestation of finally being able to close that chapter and truly move forward. Beyond the tattoo, the healing process involved a lot of self-reflection and coping strategies. I found comfort in journaling, pouring out all those messy feelings I couldn't articulate aloud. Sometimes, just seeing those old 'friendship breakup photos' would trigger me, and I had to learn to either archive them or look at them as lessons, not wounds. It’s a journey, not a switch you flip, and it comes with its own set of emotional challenges. I started focusing on myself, rediscovering hobbies, and strengthening other healthy connections that genuinely uplift me. It's truly a #newbeginning, and while it's tough, it's also incredibly liberating. If you're reading this and wondering if it's time to let go of a friendship, my biggest advice is to trust your gut. When a friendship consistently costs you your peace, and you feel unseen or unheard, it's a huge sign. Don't let guilt keep you trapped. It’s taken me a while to fully embrace that 'IT'S OKAY to let the friendship go,' but now I truly believe it. Your emotional well-being is paramount. Don't be afraid to close that chapter, even if it feels terrifying. There's a whole new beginning waiting on the other side, filled with peace and self-discovery.

I had to cut off my best friend because she was telling absolute lies and nonsense about me…come to find out she was doing this to another girl…me and the other girl are soul sisters now and she was my MOH at my wedding!
