🎄The Nutcracker🩰
Fashion Inspo Russia
🪆Five years ago, after immersing myself in the history of the Romanov family and Tsar Nicholas, I insisted to my husband that we must visit Eastern Europe, including the countries that have since dominated international political news over the last three years.
It was an incredible trip, and we’ve never regretted a moment of it.
Choosing the perfect outfit for this session in Moscow took me some time. The skirt I wore was from Stella Jean, featuring a stunning depiction of Siberia's countryside in winter. I paired it with an off-the-shoulder white top, adorned with layers of costume jewelry, drawing inspiration from the Tsarinas.
My shoes were from the Nutcracker collection, tying into the Russian theme perfectly.
To my surprise, Russia has a deep love for vintage fashion. So, I styled my husband's suit in a loose, classic fit, reminiscent of 1950s vintage menswear.
One thing I noticed—and several people, including some of my photographers, mentioned—is that I look younger when I wear my hair down.
I know this, but my hair doesn’t hold curls well, which makes it challenging to keep in style for a long shoot. So, I often opt for an updo to keep things intact.
But this time, I decided to channel the daughters of Tsar Nicholas II, letting my hair down with a large ribbon tied at the back.
The session wasn’t a grand success, but it captured what it could. Looking back, it feels like a once-in-a-lifetime shoot. Well, at this point, I don’t think there will be a second chance for it to happen anytime soon, or at least before we hit a midlife crisis. 🥴
