DIY BAG DECORATING 🍒👜

✨Step 1: Find a bag or purse that you want to decorate! I love going thrifting and finding bright color ones!

✨Step 2: Go to the store and get some fun ribbon to hang on your purse! I recommend finding colors that match your purse or just getting a simple white lace since this matches everything!

✨Step 3: Find old jewelry that you don’t wear anymore. You can use the clasps on bracelets or necklaces to hang them from your purse.🫶🏻

✨Step 4: If you want to personalize it even more, I recommend adding cute little charms! I usually hang them from the zipper.

ALL DONE! Now you have a super cool, trendy and personalized bag to carry around with you. 🍒✨👜👛

... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 After sharing my super easy and cute 4-step guide to DIY bag decorating, I wanted to dive a little deeper into how you can truly make your purse or handbag a reflection of your unique style. My previous steps covered the basics with ribbon, old jewelry, and charms, but there's a whole world of possibilities out there for turning a simple bag into a statement piece! First off, let's talk more about materials. When I mentioned finding fun ribbon, I wasn't just talking about any old spool! Think about texture and patterns. I recently found some gorgeous cherry-patterned ribbon that instantly added a playful pop to a plain red bag – just like the one in my photos! Don't be afraid to mix and match. A delicate white lace ribbon can add an elegant touch, while a chunky satin ribbon makes a bolder statement. You can tie them in bows, weave them through handles, or even secure them with a few stitches for a more permanent look. This is perfect for those looking for bag decoration ideas that really stand out. And for jewelry? Don't toss those broken necklaces or single earrings! They are goldmines for handbag decoration items. That beautiful silver heart locket I used? It was from a broken chain I almost threw away. Clasps on old bracelets or necklaces are ideal for hooking onto zippers or D-rings. You can also get creative with brooches – they can instantly elevate a simple flap or pocket. Just make sure they're secure so you don't lose them! Charms are my absolute favorite because they offer endless personalization. Beyond the typical keychains, look for unique, smaller charms at craft stores, antique shops, or even online. I love collecting quirky ones like my little teapot charm or the sparkly pink star charms that add a whimsical touch. These are fantastic purse decorating ideas because they're usually easy to attach and can be swapped out depending on your mood or outfit. Now, let's go beyond clips and ties. If you're wondering how to decorate handbags at home with a bit more flair, consider patches and pins! Iron-on patches are a dream for canvas tote decorating ideas. You can find them with almost any design imaginable, from quirky animals to vintage logos. Just make sure your bag material can handle the heat. Enamel pins are another fantastic option; they're super easy to attach and remove, allowing for endless customization without permanent commitment. This is a great way to explore unique purse designs with stickers and accessories if you're not ready to paint. Speaking of bag materials, if you're looking how to decorate a leather bag, you need to be a little more cautious. While ribbons and clip-on charms work wonderfully, avoid anything that requires heat (like iron-on patches) or permanent adhesives that might damage the leather. Instead, focus on things you can tie, clip, or hang. For canvas bags, however, the world is your oyster! Fabric paints, markers, and embroidery are all excellent options for truly transforming a canvas tote bag. You can draw your own designs, stencil patterns, or even embroider intricate details. Finally, a quick word on making your DIY bag decor last. Use strong knots for ribbons and ensure all clasps and hooks are securely fastened. For anything glued, use fabric-specific or multi-surface adhesive and allow ample drying time. A little care will ensure your newly decorated purse stays fabulous for longer! I hope these extra tips give you even more inspiration to get creative with your bags. It's such a rewarding way to express yourself and make something truly one-of-a-kind. Show off your DIY bag decor creations – I can't wait to see what you come up with!
