Stain Removal Hacks For Spring Cleaning

Here are some stain removal hacks that work! Just in time for Spring Cleaning! Let’s break them down!

✨Glass cleaner on microfiber: I use sprayway glass cleaner. Make sure you spot test (always!) and cover the entire surface, not just the stain. Spray on, agitate and wipe off with a damp cloth. If stiff when it dries, brush with a medium bristle brush.

✨Shaving cream on mattress: spray on, rub in and wipe clean with a damp cloth. Make sure you cover beyond the stain with shaving cream or it’ll lift it and redistribute.

✨Dawn on lunchbox: this pretreat works! Works on sunblock stains, makeup stains, deodorant stains! It works! I spray and leave for 15 min. Wash like you usually would.

✨Steamer on sharpie: recently discovered this on accident (don’t ask 😂🙈). Not suitable for fabrics that can’t stand high heat but place a cloth or paper towel under the stain and the heat will lift and move the stain!

Happy cleaning friends!

... Read moreHey everyone! Building on my last post about quick stain fixes, I wanted to dive deeper into some other stubborn messes we all face around the house. You know, those times when a standard spray just doesn't cut it, or you're looking for more natural options for common spills and mishaps. First up, let's talk about the incredible power of baking soda. I've found it's a lifesaver for so many fabric stains. If you've got a grease spot or a food spill on your favorite shirt or even upholstery, a simple baking soda paste works wonders. Just mix a few tablespoons of baking soda with a tiny bit of water to form a thick paste. Apply it directly to the stain, let it sit and dry completely – usually a few hours or overnight. As it dries, it literally draws the stain out! Once dry, just brush or vacuum it off. I recently had a tough spaghetti sauce splat on my favorite cotton tee, and this trick saved it. And let's not forget about white vinegar. This pantry staple is fantastic for a pre-wash stain remover for all sorts of organic stains and odors. For those really tough, smelly stains – yes, even the dreaded 'poop stains' on fabrics or mattresses – a vinegar solution can be a lifesaver. Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Blot up as much of the mess as you can first, then mist the area generously with your vinegar solution. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes, then blot again with a clean, damp cloth. The acetic acid in vinegar works to break down the stain and neutralize odors. Just remember to spot test first! Speaking of mattress stains, building on the shaving cream tip, for really set-in organic stains, especially if you're dealing with something like a poop stain, combine the power of baking soda and a bit of hydrogen peroxide. After blotting the initial mess, sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda over the stained area. Then, lightly mist with a solution of half hydrogen peroxide and half water (or again, vinegar if you prefer). The baking soda will fizz, lifting the stain. Let it dry completely, then vacuum up the residue. This method has saved me countless times and is a fantastic way to tackle those deep-set mattress stains. Finally, for those outdoor adventures resulting in set-in mud stains on white clothes – talk about a challenge! My biggest tip: don't rub wet mud! Let the mud dry completely first. Once it's dry, you can easily scrape or brush off the excess without pushing it deeper into the fibers. For the leftover stain, I've found that a good pre-treat is essential. You can use something strong like Dawn Powerwash (which, as you know, makes an amazing laundry pre-treat for all sorts of things!) or even soak the area in a mixture of warm water and a little laundry detergent before a regular wash. This combo really helps lift those stubborn dirt particles. Remember, patience is key with stain removal, and always spot test any new product or solution in an inconspicuous area! These little tricks have truly saved so many of my favorite items and kept my home looking fresh.
