Use a quality disinfectant spray, such as Arm & Hammer's cleaning spray, to eliminate bacteria and lingering smells. Remember to clean all areas, including under the lid and around the rim, where grime can accumulate. Incorporating baking soda into your cleaning routine can also be beneficial. Baking soda is an effective odor neutralizer, and placing some at the bottom of the trash bag can help absorb unpleasant smells before they escape into your home. You can sprinkle it inside the bag itself for added protection against strong odors. Using deodorizing clips is another practical tip to keep scents at bay. These clips provide subtle ongoing fragrance and can significantly diminish the smells coming from the trash can. Just remember to replace them every few months for continued effectiveness. For ongoing odor control, consider implementing a schedule to take out the trash regularly. The less time food waste spends in your bin, the less chance there is for unpleasant smells to develop. Also, try to separate recyclable materials from organic waste as much as possible to minimize stink. Following these steps will help you maintain a fresh and clean kitchen!
