How I cut my HVAC bills by $30 a month 🧾

I know our home is 100yrs old and usually costs a lot more to heat because there isn’t a lot of insulation or updated windows and doors.

So we had to improvise and use store bought items to help insulate our home better. Our bill in the winter & summer could get up to $130 monthly but now it rarely gets over $100! 🎉

Even just these affordable things we got from the store have already paid us back for what they did to our home!

The most important thing is to stop any drafts from coming in. So using caulk, sealing kits, or weather stripping and a cheap but very effective way to stop this from happening!

#

... Read moreIf you're in an older home like mine, rising HVAC bills can feel like a burden. But there are effective strategies to manage these costs. By making simple improvements such as sealing drafts, you can see significant savings. One of the most impactful solutions is using weather stripping around windows and doors. It’s an inexpensive fix that can cost under $10, yet it drastically increases your home's energy efficiency. Also, consider investing in window insulation kits for areas you don't frequently open; many kits cover a sizeable surface area and are easy to install. Moreover, it’s essential to creatively handle heating and cooling schedules. Set your HVAC system to operate during the most energy-efficient temperatures, and create a schedule that reduces usage when you're not home. For instance, 75°F for cooling and 65°F for heating during nighttime can make a notable difference in bills. The combination of these methods not only promotes comfort but also fosters energy efficiency that benefits both your finances and the environment!
