Beaches I’ve recently visited ☀️🌊👙🏖️🐚🏝️
I recently took a trip up the northeast coast! We stoped in multiple major city’s but also made a point to stop and relax at as many beaches as possible!
Before you go crazy I know not all of these are beaches but I was at a place with sand next to water. Close enough? 🫠
It was interesting seeing how each location was unique in its own way! Different kinds of plants and wildlife. Some more sandy and some rocky. What they all had in common was the breath taking views.
I didn’t see much wildlife but birds, seals and jellyfish as the water was still a bit cold but I’m thankful we weren’t there a week later when people were reporting multiple shark sightings!
If your driving through Connecticut, Massachusetts or Maine. Be sure to add these spots to your list!

After exploring Hammonasset and Rocky Neck, our drive brought us to Horseneck Beach, and I have to say, it immediately stood out. The OCR notes mentioned 'gentle waves,' and that's exactly what I found – a truly serene experience. As soon as I stepped out onto the shore, the rhythmic sound of those gentle waves rolling in was incredibly soothing. It wasn't the kind of crashing surf you'd expect for serious surfing, but perfect for wading, letting the cool water wash over your feet, and just feeling utterly relaxed. The beach itself is quite unique, with a mix of pebbles and rocks closer to the water's edge, transitioning into softer sand further up. This varied texture made for an interesting walk. I loved collecting some of the smoother, wave-tumbled stones; each one felt like a little piece of the ocean's journey. The 'gentle waves' meant the water was crystal clear for quite a distance, allowing me to spot tiny shells and interesting bits of seaweed near the shore. It felt like a truly immersive natural experience, very different from the wide sandy expanses I often picture when thinking of beaches. For anyone specifically wondering about the 'Horseneck Beach waves,' I'd describe them as incredibly inviting. They create a peaceful ambiance, making it an ideal spot if you're looking to unwind, meditate by the water, or enjoy a quiet stroll without battling strong currents. I saw families with young children enjoying the calm waters, and even a few people trying out paddleboarding or kayaking, which seemed perfectly suited for these conditions. It's not a place for aggressive water sports, but rather for embracing the tranquility of the ocean. The cloudy sky mentioned in the OCR for the photo I took that day actually added to the moody, reflective atmosphere, which I surprisingly loved – it made the vastness even more poignant. My personal tip? If you're visiting Horseneck, aim for a clear day if possible to see the sun sparkle on the water, but don't discount an overcast day for a more dramatic, introspective experience. Also, bring a sturdy pair of sandals or water shoes for comfortable walking over the pebbly areas, especially if you plan to explore the shoreline. I spent a good hour just sitting on a smooth rock, watching the water, and feeling completely disconnected from any city bustle. I even packed a small picnic to enjoy right by the water, listening to the waves. It was a stark contrast to some of the busier, more classic sandy beaches we visited, offering a different kind of coastal beauty. The waves here aren't about excitement; they're about pure, unadulterated peace and connection with nature. It’s definitely a spot I’d return to for a quiet escape.
