My favorite planty places In Ohio 🌹🪻🌸🌺🌷🌻🌼💐🥀🪷

Being a plant person opens you up to a whole new world! There’s SO much to learn.

These are some of my FAVORITE plant places in Ohio and a little about them.

- Canton road garden center: an adorable little family owned shop in Akron. They have a great selection of a little bit of everything. They are very knowledgeable and take the time to help with any questions.

- Goodyear heights metro park: I grew up close to this park and have spent so much time here! They have a huge hill and bonfire area great for sledding in the winter. Ponds for fishing, hiking trails, plant and wildlife preservation areas and a community garden. Most metro parks are pretty nice and they all offer different scenic views and amenities.

- Cleveland botanical Garden: absolutely stunning! They change the theme every so often, but always include interesting and unique plants and flowers in stunning displays.

- Groovy plant Ranch: I had to plan a day trip to make it out there, but it was worth the wait and just as magical as I imagined. They have a fantastic selection of house plants and fun displays that make you feel like you’re exploring a whimsical fairy world.

- Three Thymes Greenhouse teas and gifts : a spooky little shop owned by two sisters filled with surprises. They sell tea, locally handmade goods, and house plants. They host events and craft shows and support the community. The ladies are so sweet and knowledgeable. The tea is off the charts amazing. They can mix you a blend of anything you’d like. I stop and every so often for a new bag.

- Suncrest Gardens: this is my favorite place to go on a rainy day. I love walking around the first portion of the store to look at knickknacks and unique decor. Next, I wander through the multiple greenhouses and literally get lost for a little while. Sometimes I have to circle back to make sure I didn’t miss anything. It’s like a jungle in there in the best way.

- Grafs garden shop: another cute little family owned garden shop in Akron. This place grows tons of their own plants and vegetables for each season as well as cut flowers that are sold in store and local vendor markets. They host events for the community that can be fun for all ages. The store is always nicely decorated in fun, colorful ways. They are also well known for their landscaping and farmers market.

- Stan Hewitt hall and Gardens: I think this place is kind of underrated. I visited for the first time last fall and fell in love with it the first time around. I couldn’t wait to visit again this spring to see all the flowers blooming. I hope to visit again in the winter for their festive light show. The house itself is beautiful and I love seeing all the pretty, old and unique furnishings. After seeing the house the first time I decided just to visit the gardens the next time to enjoy just walking around, looking at things.

I’m always on the hunt for places surrounded by nature and bursting with color! Comment your favorite plant filled places below! ⬇️

... Read moreI love sharing my discoveries with fellow plant enthusiasts, and Ohio truly has some hidden (and not-so-hidden) green treasures! Let me tell you a bit more about what makes these spots so special and how you can make the most of your plant-filled adventures. First up, Canton Road Garden Center in Akron. This isn't just any garden shop; it's a slice of local passion. What I adore about this family-owned gem is the personal touch. You can feel the dedication in every perfectly potted plant. They have an incredible variety, and I've often found myself mesmerized by their stunning roses, just like the vibrant ones I've seen overhead in pictures – a true burst of pink, orange, and white. The staff are genuinely knowledgeable and always take the time to answer all my questions, whether it's about soil types or battling a pesky pest. It’s the kind of place where you leave not just with a new plant, but with a bit more gardening wisdom and a warm feeling from supporting a local business. If you're in the Akron area, it's a must-visit for quality plants and friendly advice. Then there's the expansive beauty of Goodyear Heights Metro Park. Having grown up nearby, I’ve seen this park transform through the seasons, and it never ceases to amaze me. It's a fantastic spot for truly immersing yourself in Ohio's native flora and fauna. I always look forward to seeing the lush fields of yellow black-eyed Susans and purple wildflowers that bloom there, painting the landscape with natural colors. Beyond the picturesque trails and fishing ponds, the plant and wildlife preservation areas are a highlight. It's truly a place where you can observe local animals in their natural habitat, from various bird species to deer peeking through the foliage. For anyone seeking a tranquil escape to reconnect with nature, to witness genuine Ohio wilderness, and enjoy a peaceful hike, this metro park offers a wonderful sanctuary. Don't forget your camera to capture those beautiful wildflowers! When venturing out in Ohio to enjoy unique plants and discover local wildlife, I've picked up a few tips over my years of exploring. Always check the seasonal offerings! For instance, places like the Cleveland Botanical Garden constantly refresh their themes, showcasing incredible displays of orchids and other tropical plants that make you feel like you've stepped into another world. It’s not just about seeing the plants; it's about the artistic presentation. Similarly, a visit to Groovy Plant Ranch feels like a whimsical journey, with disco balls catching the light amidst countless potted plants – it's an experience as much as a nursery. For a blend of history and horticulture, Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens is simply captivating. I was enchanted by the fields of daffodils and the grand historic architecture. It's not just a garden; it's a step back in time, allowing you to appreciate both cultivated beauty and architectural marvels. And if you're like me and appreciate unique finds, look for places like Suncrest Gardens with its delightful garden decor and terrariums, or Three Thymes Greenhouse Teas and Gifts, which offers a charming mix of plants, handmade goods, and truly amazing teas in a festive, spooky-cute setting. My advice for plant lovers exploring Ohio is to embrace the diversity. From the small, intimate family-run shops like Graf's Garden Shop, which grows tons of their own plants, to vast metro parks and grand estates, each location offers something distinct. Always engage with the staff – they are usually passionate experts eager to share their knowledge. And remember, these aren't just places to buy plants; they're destinations for inspiration, relaxation, and connecting with the vibrant natural world around us. Happy exploring!
