My second trip to Vegas 🎰

Vegas pt. 2!

This time we got to see a lot of new things we didn’t get to see last time.

Right out of the airport we stopped at a large Pro bass shop/ Silverton Casino to catch part of the mermaid show and wander a bit. We stayed on Fremont St. for a night and visited the nearby Neon Museum. The next day we drove to Arizona to kayak part of Black Canyon. Despite the clouds the views were breathtaking and the water was shockingly cold but refreshing in 100+ degree weather. We played some putt putt golf, purchased locally made art from a vintage cigarette vending machines, saw the Mad Apple show and took a walk through a few hotels/casinos we missed last time and stopped to visit the ones we wanted to see again. We spent our last few free hours of the trip in the middle of nowhere catching what we could of the meteor shower last night. We did have some rain and lots of clouds throughout the week but it ended up keeping things a bit cooler most days.

You can’t visit Vegas without the fantastic food, drinks, pool time, Koolsville tattoo shop, 10,000+ steps a day, people watching and every other crazy and chaotic thing in between!

Worth the money/time or nah? ⬇️

Silverton casino/Pro bass shops: if your an outdoorsy person you will enjoy walking the shop. The casino is kind of basic except for the large aquarium near the pass though that connects to the pro shop that does mermaid and informational ocean life shows every so often. short but cool. We had better luck gambling off strip and with the place being near the airport it was a good place to start.

Neon Museum: Meh…… it was smaller then I expected, it didn’t have as many signs as I thought it would. I wish I would have saved my money to do something else. If your Into this type of thing I HIGHLY reccomend visiting The American Treasure Tour Museum in Pennsylvania. Way more unique, more signs, more to see and worth every single cent. Visit my page for more post about that place. Even the Neon sign museum in Cincinnati Ohio was much more exciting.

Kayaking (Arizona, willow beach park) WORTH IT! Do this early in the trip. if you are new to kayaking take the guided tour. If you have any experience kayaking even beginner I think you’d be able to do it without a guide. The guided tours cost much more than just reserving your own kayak. They also offer different boat rental options. There’s different routes to take and different sights to see. What they don’t tell you is that if your headed towards emerald cave is that the water actually only “lights up” green when the sun is at a specific angle. So it’s not an all day or always available option. Once you arrive at cove there could be up to a 2 hour wait to just look at it. You can see more of the green water closer to the edge of the water near land. The water is FREEZING. Go as early in the day as possible to give yourself plenty of time.

Swingers putt putt: the putt putt golf was fun but the arcade and arcade prizes weren’t worth it. Only like 10 different outdated games. As a prize you have to spend a very high amount of tickets on your arcade game card to use a claw machine to get a teddy bear or some other small gift then you have to carry it around the rest of the night. Although there are photos of multiple different courses only 1 area was open for play. The other seems to be only for private events. Play golf but skip the arcade and save your money.

Art vending machines: There is supposed to be 6 of these throughout the cosmopolitan hotel. I found 2 near the wicket spoon buffet. There are some on all three floors of the hotel but I only had time to use these two. I bought 3 items at $10 each. I got a mini painting, a pack of handmade ceramic buttons and a small storage bag with art on it. It’s always worth the money to support an artist or small business owner. Keep an open mind and just have fun with it. I wouldn’t reccomend choosing jewelry if you have any sensitivities. Be sure to follow and support the artist on social media afterwards. They’d love to know you got something they made!

Fountain shows: the Bellagio is a must atleast once. It gets crowded down there fast. Keep an eye on friends, family and personal belongings. The lake of dreams: we missed this last time but I’m glad we got to see it this time. We actually stayed for 2 shows (half hour apart) and they were both cool. Be sure to do research on when the shows start and stop and how frequently they happen. They change each time so don’t be afraid to visit again later. Be prepared to stand for a bit, they often start a few minutes late each only is only a few minutes long.

Mad Apple show: I’d say it’s worth it. Regular prices are high, if you can find a discount code that helps. The performers were amazing, it was a unique show being based off of New York, the acts were good, amusing and entertaining.

Star gazing: worth it! We drove out near red rock canyon. There’s tons of other great options. Most state parks aren’t open after dark but most overlooks are still accessible. You can also just pull over on the side of the road but make good choices for a spot and be aware of your surroundings. We went during a meteor shower and there were tons of other people and lots of traffic out. It was challenging to find a good spot to park on red rock canyon rd. And multiple cars driving by made it challenging to maintain constant darkness so your eyes could adjust. It worked but I’d like to find a better less busy spot next time.

Koolsville tattoo: WORTH IT! They do great work for affordable prices and get you in and out fairly quickly. There could be long lines. You have to be prepared to have a design and placement chosen before your waiting in line to be called so look up their flash sheets online before you go. They are most accurate through the Facebook page. They have a lot of more sizes and price range flash sheets to choose from these days. 2 years ago I got 1 - $10 tattoo and this time I got 2 - $80 black and red tattoos. I’ll post photos in the comments at some point. Friendly staff. Clean. Just bring bandaids and Aquaphor for aftercare. Vegas is gross. Get your tattoo at the end of your trip so you don’t have to care for it the whole time and try to keep it clean.

Extra random notes: don’t be afraid to take city transportation like the tram, the Deuce, ride share apps and local services. Compare prices, travel safely, pay attention to where you are going, what you are doing and who’s around you. We never had issues but always be aware. Don’t buy things from random people, don’t take things strangers try to hand you. Stick to shopping and supporting actual businesses to be safe. Map out routes before walking. It’s probably further than you think.

... Read moreDuring my recent Vegas trip, I was excited to dive deeper into activities beyond the typical Strip experience, enhancing the fun and discovery every day. One of my favorite surprises was the Silverton Casino near the airport, which houses a large aquarium where a mermaid show takes place. It’s a refreshing, family-friendly spot away from the bustling Strip vibes. Kayaking at Willow Beach Marina in Arizona was an absolute highlight. The serene views along Black Canyon combined with the crisp, cold water made the early morning paddle truly invigorating, especially as it helped beat the usual Vegas heat. Pro tip: the famed 'emerald cave' only glows green at certain sunlight angles—so plan your timing carefully to catch the magic. If you love quirky finds, the art vending machines at The Cosmopolitan offer handcrafted items by local artists—supporting creativity while bringing home unique souvenirs. I picked up some mini paintings and ceramic buttons; they’re small tokens with big stories. Although some attractions didn’t quite meet expectations, like the Neon Museum, it’s worthwhile knowing such insights so you can better tailor your itinerary. Conversely, shows like Mad Apple impressed me with top-tier performances and a fresh New York twist. Vegas is also perfect for experiences like stargazing at Red Rock Canyon. Despite challenges with light pollution and crowds during a meteor shower, the vast desert sky offered breathtaking views. It's a peaceful contrast to the city's vivid energy. Lastly, I highly recommend Koolsville Tattoo for affordable, quality ink with friendly, professional staff—just remember to schedule tattoos towards the end of your trip to manage aftercare easier. Navigating Vegas was also simpler by using local transport options and ride-shares, helping avoid the hassle and exhausting walking distances. Staying alert and avoiding street vendors ensured a safe, relaxed visit. Overall, mixing iconic sights with hidden pleasures and practical advice made this trip uniquely memorable and worth every moment and dollar spent.
