Shortcuts in control center

Ever wish you had a 'widget' for everything you use most often, right at your fingertips? Well, I discovered that iPhone's Control Center shortcuts are basically that, but even better because they're super customizable and don't clutter your home screen! If you're looking for instant access to your favorite apps and settings, just like a personalized widget panel, this is your new favorite hack. Getting started is easier than you think! First, you need to add the 'Shortcuts' control to your Control Center. Just head to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls and tap the green plus sign next to 'Shortcuts'. Now, when you swipe down from the top right (or up from the bottom on older iPhones), you'll see a little square for your custom shortcuts! This is where the magic begins. But what about creating those amazing 'widget-like' shortcuts? This is where the Apple Shortcuts app comes in. For example, I have one for my Settings app, which is a lifesaver for quick adjustments. You can create super-simple ones like 'Open App' for any application you use constantly. Think about Wallet, Mail, Facebook, YouTube, Lemon8, Pinterest, or Safari – all those apps I check several times a day. To do this, simply open the Shortcuts app, tap the + icon to create a new shortcut, add an 'Open App' action, and choose your desired app from the list. You can even pick a custom icon and color for each shortcut, making your Control Center truly unique, just like you see in the images showing my personalized setup! And it gets even cooler! Remember how I mentioned using it for my Kindle app? I have a shortcut that instantly puts my screen into grayscale mode for reading, and another that triggers my phone to read the book aloud. These are a bit more advanced but totally doable within the Shortcuts app using actions like 'Set Display Filter' or 'Speak Text'.
