I’ve been thinking about it for the past year and seen so many good results on other people.
🫧 I never really liked my hair and done dumb decisions like relaxing it which damaged my growth and gave me some insecurity but I let it regrow over the years as a start.
I felt like 2025 had to be different and I made it possible. My hair stylist done an amazing job and I felt so cute.
It’s still on its baby stage and I hope for it to be where I want it to be for yours to come 🌼
... Read moreWhen I first started my loc journey, I was a little worried about how to style my 'baby locs.' But I quickly learned that simple designs are not only beautiful but also crucial for healthy growth. My stylist initiated them with neat partings, often using two-strand twists, which is a fantastic foundation. For daily wear, I've found that just letting them hang is a simple, chic look, especially when they're short. Sometimes, I'll use small pastel flower clips, just like some inspirations I've seen, to add a touch of whimsy without pulling or stressing my new locs. Headbands are also a lifesaver for those days when I want a quick, polished look. The key is to keep tension low and let them breathe.
My ultimate goal, like many on this journey, is to achieve long and thick locs. Having experienced damage from relaxing my hair in the past, I'm now completely focused on nurturing my hair back to its healthiest state. Locs are a protective style, and they've given my hair a chance to truly thrive without constant manipulation. For thickness, I'm paying close attention to my diet, making sure I'm getting plenty of vitamins and minerals known for hair health. I'm also committing to a consistent moisturizing routine – water is my best friend! I mist my locs daily and seal with light oils to keep them hydrated, which is essential for preventing breakage and encouraging robust growth. I've been researching various stages of loc growth and seeing how others have maintained their density, which keeps me motivated. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, but the vision of those beautiful, flowing locs keeps me going!
Beyond daily moisturizing, I'm gentle with my locs, especially during this fragile baby stage. I avoid heavy products that could cause buildup, and I always sleep with a silk scarf or bonnet to protect them from friction. Regular washes with a clarifying shampoo, followed by a good conditioning treatment (or ACV rinse), are part of my regimen to ensure my scalp stays clean and healthy – a healthy scalp is the foundation for healthy growth, after all! I also make sure to get regular retwists, but not too frequently, to prevent thinning at the roots. Finding a stylist who understands the balance between neatness and not over-tightening has been crucial. My goal is not just length, but also maintaining that beautiful density throughout the entire loc. It's exciting to think about how they'll evolve from these initial short, dark locs to the long, majestic ones I envision for 2025 and beyond.
This journey is truly about patience and self-love. I look at collages of different loc stages and styles, from short to longer, with neat partings, and it reinforces my vision. It’s a reminder that every stage has its own beauty. For anyone considering or starting their own loc journey, remember that simple designs in the beginning are perfect, and focusing on internal and external nourishment will pave the way for the long and thick hair you dream of. It’s more than just a hairstyle; it’s a commitment to natural beauty and a powerful statement.
Welcome to the gang I hope you enjoy your journey and remember everybody’s journey is different but beautiful ❤️
