Nobody told me I would feel like this..

..that motherhood was MORE than raising a child 🫶🏽

Nobody told me I would feel scared sometimes.

Or anxious.

Or so deeply attached to my baby that my heart feels uneasy when he’s not in my arms.

Nobody told me I would feel a little lost when his dad holds him.

That I’d be low-key territorial over my own son.

That I’d feel like a piece of me was walking around outside my body.

Nobody told me motherhood would feel this intense.

But nobody told me I would feel this much love.

This much connection.

This much belonging.

An indescribable kind of emotion that only comes from creating life.

He’s just a baby… and yes, babies can be scary.

Their entire world depends on you.

Their safety. Their comfort. Their future.

But that’s not what overwhelms me.

What overwhelms me is the reality that sinks in like,

“I really created you.”

“I really did this.”

Sometimes I just sit in awe.

In wonder.

Thinking about how powerful the woman’s body is.

I built you.

Every rib. Every cell. Every freckle. Every nerve.

I made you—piece by piece—inside of me.

And that will never stop feeling unreal.

Then once you’re here, I regulate you with my body.

I calm you.

I comfort you.

I feed you from my breasts.

I become your safe place.

There is no feeling like this.

It’s beautiful.

It’s overwhelming.

It’s emotional.

It’s sacred.

And honestly… a man just wouldn’t understand.

Motherhood isn’t just raising a child.

It’s realizing you created a whole human…

and he chose you to be his mom. 🤍

... Read moreMotherhood is truly a life-changing journey that brings with it a cocktail of emotions, many of which I didn’t expect. When I first became a mom, I was overwhelmed by how deeply physical and emotional my connection to my baby was. It’s not just about taking care of a child—it’s about feeling their presence as an extension of yourself. This intense attachment can bring moments of anxiety and fear, like feeling uneasy when your baby isn’t in your arms or feeling a strong need to protect them fiercely. One realization that hit me hard was the sheer awe of how a woman’s body can create and nurture life. There’s a sacredness in growing a tiny human piece by piece, and once they arrive, becoming their source of comfort and safety. This closeness is unlike anything else—it’s emotional, overwhelming, and beautiful all at once. Interestingly, I found that some feelings of territoriality over my baby surprised me, especially when others, even the dad, held him. It’s a strange mix of love and protectiveness that made me realize motherhood is also about learning to share that bond while still holding onto that special connection. To manage these strong emotions, I found that allowing myself to be vulnerable and open about the challenges helped me embrace this new identity. Sharing experiences with other moms, reflecting on my journey, and acknowledging that it’s okay to feel scared or lost at times made a big difference. The messages in the Vision Board image, like “MOMMIN AIN’T Easy” and “you’ll be okay,” really resonated with me during tough days, reminding me to keep going and cherish the journey despite its ups and downs. In this way, motherhood is a continual lesson in resilience and unconditional love. For anyone embarking on or struggling with motherhood, remember: you’re not alone in feeling overwhelmed or deeply connected. Embrace those emotions, and know that this powerful bond you’re building with your child is one of the most profound experiences life can offer.
