8 PM Crime scene!!

My class does this once a semester for each crime scene class. Last year we did the 3am (scroll on my page to see me take you through that) and this semester we did the 8pm.

The scene is bigger and longer. Last year was 5 hours, this years was 10 hours.

It’s an excellent representation of the real world because crime doesn’t happen between 9am-5pm and a great learning tool for all of us!

These exercises prepare students for the unpredictability of real-life crime, which can occur at any hour. The 8 PM simulation particularly highlights the extended duration of investigations, reflecting the reality of crime scene management. This immersive approach taught students to apply their theoretical knowledge in a high-pressure environment. Activities included setting up the scene, interviewing witnesses, and gathering evidence, crucial for their future careers in law enforcement or forensic science. This hands-on experience is unprecedented; it fosters critical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability among students. As they maneuver various roles, the simulations enhance their understanding of investigative procedures and the importance of meticulous documentation. Such real-world applications can dramatically affect students' preparedness for the field. In addition, these live scenarios often include unexpected developments, preparing students for the unpredictability they may face on the job. Overall, crime scene simulations emphasize the need for continuous learning and adaptation in the ever-evolving field of criminal justice.

Would you recommend a forensics major instead of crime scene analysis for this particular side or detective work??
