Metro Exodus
Getting back into the Metro one last time.
Hey everyone! So, I just wrapped up my latest playthrough of Metro Exodus, and I wanted to share some personal tips on something really important for that 'good karma' ending: freeing the slaves. It can be tricky, but trust me, it’s worth the effort for the satisfying conclusion and the overall feeling of doing good in that harsh world. First off, the biggest lesson I learned? Stealth is your absolute best friend. Seriously, try to avoid lethal takedowns whenever you can, especially around the areas where slaves are held. Using non-lethal stealth takedowns or simply sneaking past enemies not only keeps your karma positive but also makes it much easier to free the slaves without alerting everyone. I found myself replaying sections a few times just to get it right; it was a real 'gamer grind' for the best outcome! Remember those moments where you just have to get it perfectly? That's what freeing slaves often feels like. You'll encounter opportunities to free slaves in several key locations, each presenting its own unique challenges. In the Volga, for instance, keep an eye out during the missions where you're dealing with the Children of the Forest or the fanatics. There are often cages or guarded areas where you can find captives. My advice here is to approach slowly, use your binoculars to tag enemies, and plan your route. Sometimes, you can even find a key on a guard or disable an alarm system to make things smoother. I remember one time, I almost got caught by a patrol, but a quick smoke grenade and a well-timed non-lethal takedown saved the day, letting me unlock the cage without anyone being the wiser! Always check for alternative paths – ventilation shafts, broken walls, or even underwater routes can lead you right to the captives. Later, in the Caspian Sea region, the situations become even more intense due to the harsh desert environment and the widespread slaver operations. This is where patience really pays off. Look for openings to disable generators, cut power to lights, or take out individual guards quietly. The key here is often identifying the main guard post or the person holding the key. There are multiple slave camps, and freeing them frequently involves finding a specific lever or switch to open their pens, often hidden or heavily guarded. It’s not always obvious, so explore every nook and cranny. I literally spent an hour just scouting one area, patiently observing patrol routes and guard positions, and it paid off when I found a hidden path that bypassed half the enemies! Don't rush; observe first. Beyond just opening cages, remember that your overall morality in Metro Exodus is a cumulative score. Every non-lethal action, every innocent civilian you save, and every slave you free contributes to that good karma. It truly affects which ending you get, making your journey feel more personal and impactful. It feels good to know your actions have a positive impact in such a bleak setting. So, keep your eyes peeled for those opportunities, stay stealthy, and happy slave-freeing, fellow Spartans! Making those difficult choices for the greater good is what Metro Exodus is all about.
