Dutch Oven Chicken Pot Pie 🥧

I love using my Dutch oven, it’s seriously a game changer. This is a warm winter meal you can make for a fairly decent price! I calculated $16.75 for the entire meal, not including seasoning and butter. This will make about 4 servings.

For this chicken pot pie I use

1 can cream of mushroom

1 can chicken stock or broth

1 can jumbo biscuits

1 package frozen mixed veg

2 chicken breast

1 tbs Minced garlic

salt & pepper to taste — and any other seasonings you prefer

Detailed Steps:

Preheat oven to about 375°

Cut chicken breast to cubes that are smaller than bite sized, think the same size as the carrots in your frozen veg.

Cook in your Dutch oven on stove top. When the chicken is cooked through, add your cream of mushroom and broth; once that is combined you will add frozen veggies and stir until combined.

Place the lid on your Dutch oven and warm veggies through.

Once your mixture is warmed through, add your biscuits to the top, I add butter to mine for more flavor and so the biscuits will take a little more time. Cook with no lid this time.

Once your biscuits are browned and your mixture is bubbling a bit you are ready to serve!

Additional tips/notes: I serve mine with some parsley and for extra flavor I use Kinders “The Blend” and Kinders “Buttery Garlic and Herb”seasoning on my chicken before cooking

Enjoy!!

... Read moreDutch oven cooking is a fantastic way to prepare meals that are both flavorful and convenient. This chicken pot pie recipe utilizes common ingredients, keeping the cost low while ensuring a delicious outcome. The popularity of chicken pot pie comes from its versatility; you can modify it by adding your favorite vegetables or using different seasonings to elevate the dish. In addition to the ingredients mentioned, consider incorporating fresh herbs like thyme or rosemary for added flavor. When using frozen mixed vegetables, a blend that includes carrots, peas, and corn works particularly well, providing a balance of sweetness and texture. Cooking in a Dutch oven retains moisture, helping the chicken and biscuits bake perfectly while combining their flavors. Also, preheat your Dutch oven before adding your ingredients; this step ensures that your pie cooks evenly. For those on a budget, this pot pie is not just cost-effective but can be made in bulk, allowing for leftovers that taste just as good the next day. Serve your chicken pot pie with a side salad or some crusty bread, making it a wholesome and comforting meal for colder evenings. Don’t forget to explore variations of the pot pie, such as swapping chicken for turkey or even going vegetarian by using lentils and mushrooms.
