Decaying Beauty 🥀

"There is no beauty without some strangeness"

I think my passion for photography is slowly coming back... Hopefully, I can help people see the beauty in all things dark, strange, and witchy.

#witchythings #Photograph #gothic

Photography that explores the theme of decaying beauty often challenges traditional notions of aesthetics, inviting viewers to appreciate the strange and unusual aspects of the world. Embracing dark, gothic, and witchy elements, such photography highlights how beauty can be found in impermanence and transformation. The phrase "There is no beauty without some strangeness" perfectly captures this essence, reminding us that uniqueness and a slightly eerie edge can elevate art beyond the ordinary. In this style, subtle details like the texture of worn petals or the interplay of light and shadow play a crucial role. Techniques such as manual camera settings—evidenced by notes like “MNL 1/125 OPEN 3dB” from the OCR—help the photographer control exposure and depth to emphasize mood and atmosphere. By focusing on subjects that might traditionally be overlooked, such as wilting flowers or forgotten objects, these images tell stories of time passing and beauty evolving. The hashtags #witchythings, #photograph, and #gothic indicate a community and aesthetic that appreciates the mystical, the unconventional, and the poetic darkness. This approach resonates with viewers looking for depth and authenticity, encouraging them to see beauty beyond the surface and to embrace the eerie charm found in the shadows. For anyone interested in gothic or alternative photography, cultivating a passion for capturing the strange and the beautiful can open new creative pathways. Using manual mode to experiment with shutter speed, aperture, and light sensitivity allows the artist to craft images that evoke emotion and curiosity. Engaging with communities dedicated to these themes can also provide inspiration and feedback, helping photographers grow in their craft and connect with like-minded individuals. Ultimately, photography celebrating decaying beauty invites us all to reconsider our perceptions of beauty and to find wonder in the ephemeral, the odd, and the mysterious.

Beautiful Mushrooms

Spotted in my backyard, vibrant orange mushrooms have sprung to life. These fungi thrive in humid, shaded environments, often nourished by decomposing organic matter like wood, leaves, or mulch. Their sudden appearance might be the result of recent rain or hidden decaying roots beneath the surface.
