... Read moreHey everyone! Following up on my "Worry" Bible Journaling notes, I wanted to share a bit more about how I practically tackle those overwhelming feelings of anxiety and worry. It's a journey, and my journal is truly my safe space with God. I often find that just writing out my thoughts and connecting them with scripture makes a huge difference, especially when my mind feels like it's racing. It helps me to "REMEMBER" God's care in a very tangible way.
Beyond Philippians 4:6 and Psalm 139:12, which are foundational in my journaling, I've found other scriptures to be incredibly anchoring when anxiety creeps in. For instance, Matthew 6:25-34 reminds us not to worry about tomorrow, focusing instead on God's provision. And 1 Peter 5:7 encourages us to "cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you." When I read these, I often write them out, reflect on what they mean for my specific worries, and then turn them into active "prayer points with scriptures."
Building on the idea of a "TO-DO" list from my journaling page, my prayer time often becomes a structured way to hand over my burdens. I don't just say "God, please take my worry." I use the scriptures as my prayer points! For example, taking 1 Peter 5:7, I'll pray: "Lord, I cast [specific worry] onto You right now. I believe You care for me deeply, and I trust You with this burden." Or with Philippians 4:6, "Instead of being anxious about [situation], I bring my request to You with thanksgiving. Thank You for Your peace that surpasses all understanding." This transforms praying into an active, faith-filled exercise, helping me deal with anxiety and prevents those sudden mood swings.
Speaking of mood swings, sometimes, worry can spiral into those emotional fluctuations. I've noticed when I'm consistently in God's Word and prayer, my emotional state feels much more stable. Recognizing when worry is creeping in and immediately turning to scripture, just like my 'worry' journaling page reminds me to "REMEMBER" God's care, helps prevent those emotional rollercoasters. It’s about consciously choosing to anchor my thoughts in truth rather than fleeting feelings, which is key to living a victorious Christian life.
For me, overcoming worry is a significant part of living a victorious Christian life. It's not about never feeling worry, but about knowing what to do with it when it arises. My Bible journaling has become a personal "bible study" on overcoming fear and anxiety. It's about developing a consistent practice of faith over fear, which truly empowers me each day. This discipline helps me find things that remind me of God's faithfulness, even in the smallest moments.
While my journaling notes focus on daily worries, I know some struggles run much deeper, like trauma. The Bible assures us that God is close to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and heals the contrite in spirit (Psalm 147:3). If you're dealing with past trauma, please know that God is with you, and it's also courageous to seek professional help alongside your spiritual journey. My journaling helps me process emotions, but for profound pain, a holistic approach is key, always anchoring in God's unending love.
I hope these expanded thoughts and practical tips help you in your own journey to peace. Let me know in the comments how you tackle worry!
