Transitioning out of the patriarchy's expectations or any imposed roles requires conscious effort and kindness toward oneself. Setting boundaries isn’t just about saying 'no'—it’s saying 'yes' to yourself. Each boundary set felt like paying off a small part of the exhausting debt I'd accumulated. Embracing self-respect and stopping the cycle of over-explaining my right to exist has allowed me to experience clarity and renewed vitality. It’s a continuous journey of checking out of external demands and checking into my authentic self, a practice I encourage everyone struggling with people-pleasing to embark on.
