a look into my paint book
take a peek into some of my recent painting projects. all completed in June using gouache on watercolor paper.
Gouache is a versatile medium that has gained popularity among both beginner and seasoned artists. Unlike watercolors, gouache provides a more opaque finish and vibrant colors, making it ideal for bold designs and illustrations. In this article, I will take you further into the techniques and styles I've explored using gouache, including layering, blending, and unique textures that can be achieved on watercolor paper. In my paint book, I have a collection of works ranging from completed projects to pieces that are still a work in progress. Each painting showcases different themes and subjects, allowing the viewer to connect with my creative evolution. The large format size of my paint book, measuring 5.5 inches by 8.5 inches, provides ample space for experimentation and layout design, making it a perfect canvas for various artistic ideas. I'll share insights on some specific projects, such as the one where I envisioned a piece that I thought would take forever to finish—a metaphor many artists can relate to! This painting became a journey in itself, teaching me patience and the importance of stepping back to view the bigger picture. Additionally, I will discuss the unfinished pieces that are currently inspiring me, inviting readers to learn that art is not always about completion but can also be about the inspiration it gives along the way. I hope this glimpse into my gouache paint book encourages fellow artists to experiment with their own styles and to embrace the process of creating, whether they are finishers or those who relish the unfinished business of artistry.
