It all started because I've always been fascinated by axolotls – they're just so unique and have such captivating smiles. I wanted to create an original character that radiated positive vibes, and a cute, light blue axolotl felt like the perfect fit for my art style. When I began sketching Finn, my main goal was to give him a friendly and approachable look. That's why I focused on those large, expressive eyes and that sweet, blue smile you see in the drawing. I think big eyes really help convey emotion and make a character instantly lovable! The striped body wrap was a fun detail I added to give him a bit more personality and visual interest, making him stand out. And of course, the little heart on his tail? That's just my way of adding a sprinkle of extra cuteness and warmth to his design. He's even giving a little thumbs-up, which I hope makes you feel happy and encouraged! For those curious about digital art, I mostly use a few key drawing tool options, much like what you'd find in most drawing applications. Getting the right brush for linework versus coloring makes a huge difference. I often play around with brush size to get varying line weights for emphasis, and finding the perfect color palette is essential for setting the mood – for Finn, I leaned into soft blues and whites to keep him looking light and cheerful.
