JUST US🫶✨
My daughter turns two next week.
And while I’m so excited to celebrate her, I’ve also been sitting with a quiet sadness I don’t talk about much.
We don’t have much family nearby.
I don’t really have friends with kids.
Honestly… I don’t have many friends at all.
So when I think about birthdays, there’s no long guest list. No big party. No room full of people singing and laughing and watching her blow out candles. There’s no crowd to invite—just us.
And I know what people might say:
“She’s little, she won’t remember.”
“All that matters is that she’s loved.”
“You don’t need a big party to make it special.”
And they’re right. I know they’re right.
We will do something special. We will celebrate her. She will feel loved, safe, and adored. And truly—she already has everything she needs.
But two things can exist at the same time.
I can be grateful for what we have and still feel sad about what we don’t.
Sometimes I wish she had cousins running around.
Sometimes I wish I had mom friends to plan things with.
Sometimes I wish I wasn’t always the one trying to make magic feel “enough” all by myself.
It’s not about the party.
It’s about the village I imagined having for her—and for me.
Still, when I look at her, I remind myself of this:
She doesn’t see what’s missing.
She sees me.
She sees us.
She sees the balloons I blow up.
The cake we share.
The way I show up every single day.
And maybe one day, our circle will grow.
Maybe it won’t look the way I once pictured—but it will be ours.
So this birthday might be small.
But it’s full of love.
And for now, that’s enough—even if my heart feels a little heavy while saying it.

I exactly thought of this, we also dont have family near by and its hard to have friend especially that have kids. We will probably be celebrating my babys first bdays just me, hubby and him. But i will definitely make it special for him. Even though he wont remember. Hey eventually when they start going to school they will have friends, and then thats when partys come!
