Reflecting on the phrase "Kiko lo tenía todo y aún así envidiaba al Chavo. No se trata de tener, se trata de ser," I’ve come to appreciate that true fulfillment isn’t tied to what we own but to who we are. Many of us chase after success defined by material wealth, assuming it will bring happiness. However, this often leaves us feeling empty or envious of others who seem to possess qualities or freedom that money cannot buy. From my own experience, focusing on being—embracing qualities like kindness, authenticity, and contentment—has a far greater impact on my happiness than accumulating things. For example, I once envied a friend who traveled freely despite having less money. Observing her joyful spirit taught me that internal qualities are what enrich our lives. This perspective encourages us to reflect on personal growth and character development rather than external achievements. It suggests that envy often stems from overlooking the intangible aspects that make life meaningful. In practice, this may involve cultivating gratitude, nurturing relationships, or pursuing passions that define who we truly are. Ultimately, this mindset shift helps reduce dissatisfaction and promotes a deeper sense of peace. Embracing 'being' over 'having' invites us to live more fully and appreciate our unique journey without comparison.
