When I was in my early 20s I made a list of 30 things I wanted to do before I turned 30 and traveling solo was NOT one of them. I was extremely nervous for my safety. So I told myself maybe I should start small and travel domestically. However, I ended up pushing past my fear and went to Egypt and it was the best thing I could have done.
My mindset changed once I got past my fear and I learned several things…
1️⃣ You step out of your comfort zone! I think this was by far the biggest lesson for me. When I first traveled solo I cried the night before because my nerves and anxiety got the absolute best of me and I felt like I wasn’t going to be able to do it.
2️⃣ You get so much freedom! You get to do what you want, when you want it and you don’t have to worry about doing everything on anyone else’s time but your own.
3️⃣ You meet interesting people! You find yourself interacting with more people and making friends from all over the world 🌎
4️⃣ You are way more relaxed and at peace without all the extra noise and distractions from traveling with other people. It’s a great way to clear your head and be able to hear yourself think.
5️⃣ Self-awareness!! This was a big one for me. When I’m traveling with others I’m somewhat self-aware (somewhat, cause sometimes I am in La La land especially when I’m with people I trust 😫😂) but when traveling by myself I learned to be aware of my surroundings. Traveling solo makes you way more aware of what’s around you.
If you are on the fence about traveling solo I hope my lessons learned will help you to push past your fears 🤎
... Read moreTraveling alone can be a daunting thought for many, especially for those who have never done it before. However, the experience can be incredibly rewarding. When I first considered solo travel, I was overwhelmed with feelings of anxiety and fear. I remember saying, 'I said I would never travel alone!' Yet, going to Egypt changed my perspective completely.
One of the most profound realizations is how stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to personal growth and adventure. As you navigate unfamiliar territories on your own, the world opens up in ways you never imagined. You become more adaptable and resourceful, learning to handle challenges without assistance.
Moreover, solo travel offers unparalleled freedom. You choose your itinerary, take spontaneous detours, and immerse yourself in experiences that resonate with you. Unlike group travel, where agendas can clash, solo excursions allow for a truly personalized journey.
In my travels, I found myself engaging with locals and other travelers more than ever. Solo trips tend to foster connections; strangers become friends and shared experiences create lasting memories.
Additionally, solo travel promotes self-awareness and mindfulness. Without distractions from others, you can reflect on your thoughts, aspirations, and priorities. It teaches you to trust yourself and your instincts, enhancing your confidence in various aspects of life.
If you're contemplating traveling alone, I encourage you to embrace it! The lessons learned from stepping beyond your fears can lead to a transformative experience that enriches your life in ways you never expected. Remember, it's perfectly okay to feel apprehensive at first; the reward is truly worth the leap of faith.
Welcome! So excited to see more from you in the future💛
