How I over Romanticize LOVE pt. 1
This is a small piece of my perception of love. If you aren't a mushy insides person, this likely won't be your tea. #romanticism #poeticlove #embracevulnerability #writingromance
Over-romanticizing love is a common experience many of us share at some point in our lives. It often starts in childhood or adolescence when we first encounter the idea of love through stories, movies, or personal crushes. This romantic ideal can shape how we view relationships and what we expect from our partners. The old coffee-stained paper mentioned in the OCR image symbolizes the enduring yet imperfect nature of these feelings — love isn’t always neat or tidy, but its rawness is what makes it profoundly human. When we over-romanticize love, we might expect constant passion and perfect moments, which can be both beautiful and unrealistic. This tendency is deeply tied to embracing vulnerability — allowing ourselves to feel deeply, even if it means risking disappointment. Vulnerability invites emotional honesty, where open conversations and genuine acts become intimate gestures, far beyond what society’s typical symbols like gift-giving or flowers suggest. Interestingly, intimate acts transcend physicality. They include sharing thoughts, laughing together, and even moments of silence that create connection. The article’s reflection on intellectual and emotional intimacy highlights how love is more than a series of actions; it is about the depth of understanding and acceptance between two people. This recognition helps counter societal pressures that reduce love to surface-level interactions. Many people struggle with managing the surprise element in relationships. While surprises can be delightful, they often come with unrealistic expectations that can cause friction if not handled with care. Instead, viewing surprises as moments to reinforce trust and appreciation can nourish a relationship’s growth. Ultimately, over-romanticizing love can be a double-edged sword. It encourages us to dream and connect on deep levels but also challenges us to reconcile idealism with reality. Embracing this balance allows relationships to flourish authentically, honoring both the poetic beauty and the everyday trials of love.
