18 Things to Do in Sydney (part 1) 🇦🇺

I visited Sydney in early November this year, just when the season was transitioning to summer. I always find that Aus leads a very slow-paced lifestyle and didn’t think I would particularly enjoy it since shops close early.

I went this time alone but stayed with a close friend who accompanied me to some of the places. I’ve to say it’s really nice to just chill and romanticise life in Sydney. I really enjoyed winding down and just take the time to do the things I want slowly.

I’ve to split this post up into 2 parts as L8 don’t let me load more than 10 pictures.

Feel free to comment below if you’ve any questions!

Sydney

Although the sun didn’t set exactly in that direction during my visit, the park provided a calm and scenic spot perfect for picnics and unwinding after a busy day. It’s a lovely place to slow down, watch the city lights come on, and enjoy nature right in the heart of Sydney. If you’re into unique shopping experiences, Newtown is a great area to explore. It’s packed with small local stores, thrift shops, and cozy cafes, where you can find cute knickknacks and postcards to remember your trip by. The relaxed vibe there encourages you to linger and soak in the local culture. For day trips, I highly recommend visiting Minnamurra Lookout in Kiama. It’s about a 2.5-hour train ride from Sydney but totally worth the journey. The area is peaceful with stunning views and plenty of open green space to roll around and relax. Fewer tourists make it feel like a hidden retreat away from the city bustle. Another must-see natural wonder near Sydney is the Blue Mountains, especially Echo Point Lookout. I booked a day tour solo via Klook, which I found super convenient. The views from Lincoln’s Rock, particularly at sunset, are breathtaking. It’s a fantastic spot to truly unwind and disconnect from everyday worries, though a heads-up for those with a fear of heights! For quieter, simple pleasures, having a morning coffee and stroll at a local park lets you enjoy some peaceful ‘‘me time.’’ I noticed locals start their day early here, and it was relaxing watching people and dogs starting their mornings. Sometimes, I chose to walk instead of bus rides if the distance was under 20 minutes — it’s a great way to feel connected to the neighborhood. All these activities reflect Sydney’s easy-going charm perfectly. Whether you’re into nature, shopping, or just leisurely strolling around, Sydney has so many delightful options for relaxing and recharging your spirit away from hectic tourist traps.
