Dr. Seuss Week at my School

This week was Dr Seuss week at my school (even though it really should be called Helen Palmer Geisel week because his wife helped with a lot of those concepts). Monday was DARE day, but here’s some of the things I did with my pre k and SPED class ♥️

During this week, children engage with beloved characters and stories, enhancing their literacy skills through fun activities. In my class, we embraced the joy of learning with unique projects inspired by Dr. Seuss’s whimsical tales. On Tuesday, students participated in a delightful cotton ball painting activity inspired by "Horton Hears a Who!" This hands-on exercise allowed kids to explore their creativity while developing fine motor skills. Wednesday followed with our take on "Green Eggs and Ham," where children enjoyed a craft that involved cutting and pasting their own green eggs onto a plate, reinforcing both artistic expression and following directions. Thursday brought the iconic "Cat in the Hat" to life as we made little hats to wear, promoting imaginative play and storytelling. Finally, Friday culminated our celebrations with a Lorax-themed project, where students crafted their own Lorax figures, learning about the importance of caring for the environment. These activities not only highlight the fun aspects of Dr. Seuss Week but also serve educational purposes, sparking discussions about themes such as friendship, creativity, and environmental responsibility. Engaging young minds through literature leads to a love for reading, making Dr. Seuss Week a cherished event in our school calendar.
