Whats in your spend the night bag? #WLW
What’s in your spend the night bag? #wlw #spendthenightbag#lgbtcouples #wlwrelationship #wlwcouple
Picture this, your girlfriend invites you over for movie night and pizza.
What are you to do?!
Are you staying the night?!
How do you prepare?!
What if it gets... suspiciously too late?!
Should you bring the "thingy"?!
Here's some tips on getting prepared for your first official sleep over with your partner.
Step 1. Don't freak out and buy new travel stuff $0
I know i'm guilty for buying new travel stufff everytime I go see my partner. But the truth is if you constantly have a spend the night bag ready to go you'll never go without. If you simply take a few deeps breaths just remember about how your morning or night routine goes.
Step 2 Pick one big bag... and I'm giving you permission to buy a bag for this one $20
The reason why I go with a duffle bag is because I have tried the infimace backpack and it did not work for me. Maybe I have too much stuff to carry as a STEM. Maybe I have to many full time items. Either way, i've never been able to find a backpack that will comfortably store 2 pairs of shoes without breaking the zipper.
Now in case you're a makeup girly. I'm going to need you to go with the bare minimum. This is not me telling you what to do. It's me trying to make life easier for you. As someone who is dating a masc presenting woman I don't generally like keeping her waiting for too long when I know she liked me with or without makeup.
Step 3. Raid your bathroom. Yes your bathroom. I'm looking at you -.-
Lets get that spare toohbrush your mom or sister gave you when you first moved in
Or head to your local store for a pack of tooth brushes for $1.25
And this is just something extra I like bringing my tongue scrapper for all the snacks y'all may be enjoying. You'll want fresh breath in the morning and this does help immencely $5.49
Deoderant (Unscented) in case she needs to use it for any reason $4.49
Body spray that won't bust in your backpack when you inevitebly throw your bag down while running for an embrace or a kiss because a couple of hours away from our partner feels like a week. I suggest a fresh scent in case again... you may need to share $11.99 or your might catch these on special for buy 3 get 3 free at bath and body works. Most you'll spend on these $50 but it will last you a long time. Just put a pin in that one.
Razors that you bought months ago that may or not be rusting over under your sink. I like using the venus brand because they so actually make my skin feel refreshingly soft $9.99
Body oil, now I know body oil isn’t for everyone but hear me out this has a dual purpose. Body oil is nice because it penetrates the skin barrier over time making your skin softer the longer it’s on your skin. Which is yay for your lady when she snuggles you up. This can also be used as massage oil! Which is a great starter if you’re really wanting to get intimate eventually. Physical touch can go a long way. Always ask for permission first before bringing out the oil for massage. And it’s okay if she says no. You just have to give it time for yall to be more comfortable together. Don’t be discouraged. I personally love asking for permission to touch my partner physically. Because sometimes that’s now that you need in that moment. I’m guilty of not wanting physical touch $11.99
Makeup remover balm or oil and makeup wipes. The reason why I ask that you get both is because the balm initially takes off your makeup. But the wipes help with anything that may be left on your face after you use the hand soap or whatever is available in her bathroom. I myself don't have a problem with using hand soap in a pinch to wash my face. If you have to have a specific soap to wash your face with please bring it. I don't want anyone waking up with a surprise the next morning. Makeup removing oil $6.79 ; Amazon basics makeup removing wipes non scented $4.40
Leave in conditioner the reason why I love just packing a simple leave in conditioner or detangling spray (They can be used in case the other is unavailable) is because no matter if your hair is curly, wavy or straight this keeps frizz off. And it helps you comb your hair $7.97
Having said that please bring a hairbrush in case she doesn't want to share or if she has short hair then she definetly doesn't have a hair brush for long hair $5.99
Step 4 Pack lightly and basically
Personally my partner has shown me basic pieces and make any outfit. So I typically pack as follows.
Basic white t-shirts $19.97
Baggy jeans $30 for a little drinky drink if y'all choose to go out. Drink responsibly!
Athletic pants, I myself have grown accustom to joggers $35.00
Pajama pants of course $15.97
Your favorite hate of course $Maybe free? To slick back your hair so she can kiss you easier. Or just to show off your beautiful face.
A pack of sports bras I use Haynes $12.00
Womens boxer briefs $16.99
Basic pair of white shoes that go with EVERYTHING $69.99
House shoes , don't be wearing shoes in that ladys house. Be respectful $7.99
Next up....whats in my makeup bag as a #WLW who is transitioning to a more basic makeup look
Okay, so your girlfriend just invited you over for a sleepover – how exciting! Whether it's your very first time or you're a seasoned pro looking for new tricks, having a perfectly packed 'spend the night bag kit' can make all the difference. Beyond the basics, let's dive deeper into making sure you're not just prepared, but also comfortable and confident. First off, don't stress about buying a whole new wardrobe or a fancy duffel bag right away. The goal is practicality and comfort. Think about your daily routine: what absolutely can't you live without? For me, that's my favorite leave-in conditioner for my hair and a solid deodorant. Having these familiar items helps me feel grounded even in a new environment. I always recommend having a designated small toiletry bag for these essentials – it keeps everything organized and prevents spills, especially if you're tossing it into a bigger duffel bag with your clothes. When it comes to beauty, the original post mentioned going minimal, and I totally agree! Instead of your entire makeup collection, maybe just pack a tinted moisturizer, a little mascara, and a lip balm for a fresh face in the morning. If you're someone who loves their nightly routine, travel-sized makeup remover wipes or a small bottle of your favorite cleanser are absolute lifesavers. No one wants to wake up with last night's makeup! And don't forget a hairbrush – it’s a simple item but can drastically improve your morning look. For clothing, versatility is key. Packing joggers and a couple of soft t-shirts means you’re ready for a cozy movie night, an impromptu coffee run, or just lounging around in comfort. And pajama pants are a non-negotiable for me; they just make sleeping away from home feel more normal. Having comfortable underwear like sports bras and boxer briefs also adds to that feeling of being prepared for anything. If you're like me and love to slick back your hair, a simple cap can be a stylish and practical addition. A few extra tips for your first sleepover: Communication is always key. If you're unsure about anything, a quick, lighthearted text can clarify things. For instance, "Should I bring snacks?" or "Any morning plans?" can help you feel more at ease. Also, consider bringing a small, thoughtful item that isn't for you. Maybe a nice hand cream or a specific tea you both enjoy. It’s not a gift, but a gesture that shows you’re thinking of her comfort too. Lastly, remember to enjoy the moment! It’s all about building connections and making fun memories together.
