🧾My review: This book was very suspenseful and engaging definitely kept me on edge. The most crucial thing to understand about this book is its genre, it is Erotic Horror with elements of Dark Romance and even the more extreme subgenre, Splatterpunk. It's not a cozy read, but it delivers EXACTLY what it promises. An intense, dark, and sometimes disturbing experience. Hello, Listener... is for adventurous readers who are actively looking for a novel that challenges genre boundaries and offers a deep, disturbing dive into human obsession. Read this if you like dark romance, are a fan of horror/splatterpunk, and are looking for a story with compelling, morally gray, and extremely flawed characters. You should probably skip this if you prefer light-hearted romance, are sensitive to common horror and dark romance triggers, or are looking for a straightforward thriller without the explicit erotic content. I loved it @Lorien_ray! Was speechless by the end of “Honey, I’m Home” and could not put it down! Thank you girl! Keep it up! Can’t wait for the next one! Sorry it took me a bit to read and review it, I’ve been in a slump! But I’m back!
... Read moreOkay, so you've seen the buzz about 'Hello, Listener...' by Lorien Ray, and let me tell you, it's everything people are whispering about and more. If you're like me and constantly searching for books that push the boundaries, that leave you thinking long after you've turned the last page, then this one absolutely needs to be on your radar. From the moment I saw the cover – with its dark, glitchy cityscape and those unsettling red splatters – I knew I was in for something intense. And trust me, it delivers on that promise and then some, easily earning its 5-star rating in my book.
What truly sets 'Hello, Listener...' apart is its audacious dive into multiple extreme genres. This isn't just a dark romance; it's a full-throttle erotic horror experience with strong elements of splatterpunk. I know, I know, those aren't typically found together, but Lorien Ray masterfully weaves them into a narrative that is both deeply unsettling and undeniably compelling. It's not for the faint of heart – think psychological torment blended with explicit, often violent, eroticism. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be truly on edge, witnessing characters descend into their darkest desires and obsessions, this book will drag you right into the thick of it.
The characters are not just 'flawed'; they are intricately broken, morally ambiguous figures whose actions will challenge your perceptions of right and wrong. I found myself both repulsed and morbidly fascinated by their journey, trying to unravel their motivations as the story spiraled deeper into depravity. It's a testament to the author's skill that even amidst the extreme content, you feel a connection (however disturbing) to these complex individuals. This isn't a story where you root for conventional heroes; it's one where you witness a raw, unfiltered exploration of human depravity and obsession, forcing you to confront uncomfortable truths.
The pacing is relentless, pulling you through a narrative that feels less like reading and more like experiencing a disorienting, vivid dream. Every chapter builds on the tension, creating an atmosphere that perfectly mirrors the dark, unsettling imagery on the cover. You can almost feel the 'red splatters' of intensity permeating every page. It’s part of the 'Psychotic Tendencies Duet,' which immediately tells you that this isn't a standalone venture into darkness – there's a larger, equally intense world waiting to be explored, and I'm already eager to dive into the next installment.
Now, a crucial word of caution: the trigger warnings are absolutely there for a reason, and they are not to be taken lightly. We're talking stalking, strong sexual content, alcohol abuse, infidelity, and strong acts of violence. This book goes to places many won't dare, and it does so unapologetically. If you're sensitive to these themes, or prefer your romance light and fluffy, then 'Hello, Listener...' might be too much. But if you're an adventurous reader actively seeking a story that challenges your comfort zone, that explores the darkest corners of human nature with unflinching honesty, then you're in for a truly unforgettable (and perhaps a little disturbing) ride. It's a book that truly earns its 5-star rating for delivering exactly what it promises – an intense, dark, and profoundly engaging experience that will stick with you.
❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much for reviewing Hello, Listener!
